I tried WideView and I like it.

I have been looking at WideView for a while... And since I bought a new computer I had to find a way to put my old computer to use... and I thought I'd try WideView.Initially I figured it would be real hard to setup the TCP/IP network and stuff...but turned out it was not hard afterall.I already had a Router, network for Internet Access at home..so I didn't have to do anything additional. I did the default setup and it worked fine. So I paid for the registered version( $20 or something..) and have been playing with it. Its pretty good.I have my 24" Widescreen Monitor for the main computer (Server) with a second 14" touchscreen for GPS etc...My old comptuer now acting as Client1 has its monitor setup to display Left Front view, It gives me around 55FPS with Megascenary etc. The FPS increase is due to the fact..its only used for View. It has the Cessna loaded in Slew mode. (Only one monitor...since If I add a second monitor to it..It does not do video accelderation on the second). it really doesn't matter what plane you load on the Client FSim.. you don't get to see it. since its used only for views.. I've also hooked up another montior to my Laptop (work laptop) for the Right front view Client2.Pretty interesting concept.. I am still playing with it. I think..this is a good way to put our old computers to use as we keep upgrading.

sounds interesting, but youd have to have fs installed on both computers to say get the right wing view?

Very interesting Manny. Once you get things all set up and working to your satisfaction,I think you could do the community a great services by posting a detailed tutorial. I'm sure lots of users would appreciate it.Regards,Jim

Do you have any photos you can share?

I run FS9 on 5 computers with 6 monitors using Wideview. It works great. I have left, left front, front, right front and right views along with the planes panel on a separate monitor. The only downside to it is the AI traffic & clouds don

Clayton,Yes.. I have FS installed on all three. Now there is a noCD 9.1 exe ..so thats not a big problem. and yes.. I have megascenary installed on all three systems as well.Jim.Tutorial? Hmm... maybe.. I am not good at writing..but I think its needed. Cause Wideview initially used IPX (whatever the heck it is) ..so I never bothered with it.. then they came up with the TCP/IP solution and since I use Project Magenta IFR panel using wideFS and TCP/IP.. I learnt a little about TCP/IP.. (basically you don't have to do much..if you already had wireless/Cable/internet set up at hime). You needed to ping and get the IP adreses for the other computers for Project Majenta and WideFS.But in the case of WideView..I didnt even have to figure out the IP address. I just made sure the Firewall was takenout for the first time. (Afterward.. when I started the firewall on the server)..the connection did not fail. I didn't like the Wideview manual for installation at all... the manual instructions look much harder than it really is... and morever... All I saw in the manual (in regards to installation) was how to register for purchase... I was going "geeze.. just tell me how to install the demo ..will ya... and cut the sales pitch for now". Scott,Sure..I'll get the pictures out... but My setup right now.. is only a proof of concept.. so its not very pretty like our Dannyboy here. ;)I am not going to be buying any more monitors or computers now on account of this...but Atleast If I think of upgrading... I wouldn't feel too guilty about it. ;)
