February 25, 201511 yr Hi I am an FSX veteran (since 2006) and FS9 before that and invested so much in addons, scenery and hardware but I am ready to make the switch to P3D 2.5 based on what I hear on the Forum I own the PMDG 777, 737NGX, MD11, Aerosoft A320/A321, PFPX, ASN, and UTII, REX Texture Direct, VRS F18A, FSLABS Concorde Couple of qustions though can someone list the 30 so highly detailed cities in P3D How is P3D ATC, is it synthetic voices or human voices like FSX. Does P3D support SID/STAR plans Are Aerosoft Airport sceneries transferrable to P3D or P3D airports are detailed enough What is the best option to purchase the P3D (professional/academic) I appreciate any help in this regards Thank You Bill C:|mydocuments\mypictures\my signature.htm
February 25, 201511 yr What is the best option to purchase the P3D (professional/academic) Hi Bill, First, this question cannot be answered on the forum. Whichever one you qualify for, EULA discussion is banned on the avsim forums. As far as your addons, PMDG 777, 737NGX, MD11 - will all need a new license from PMDG. Only the 777 is currently available for P3D. Aerosoft A320/A321 - Aerosoft have dual licenses and I believe supply P3D native installers. ASN - Has its own P3D version but the license is for both FSX and P3D so you will be good to go. REX Texture Direct - Currently works with v2.5 but REX will be releasing an official update soon. PFPX, and UTII, , VRS F18A, FSLABS Concorde - Sorry I just don't know, hopefully someone else does. As far as ATC, I use VATSIM and have no experience. P3D airports are the same default FSX ones, Aerosoft airports I believe also come with dual license so you can install into P3D. As far as SID/STARS, P3D doesn't support it with default aircraft but third party can do them without any problem. Welcome to Prepar3d. Tom "I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."
February 25, 201511 yr Native P3D ATC is identical to FSX ATC. A number of people have complained about the P3D ATC window as there is no transparency, so it's a subjective opinion. Both Radar Contact and ProAtcX work for me and I tried VoxATC demo which works too. SID/STAR support comes from whatever ATC addon your using. ProATC supports them RC4 does not. I'm not sure about the others. Just like FSX theIr in no naive support for them.
February 26, 201511 yr Author Thank you Tom and DarstarF16. That helps a lot Bill Anyone using P3D under Windows 8.1 Bill C:|mydocuments\mypictures\my signature.htm
February 26, 201511 yr Hi Bill, For Concorde-X I would say that's a no go per: http://forums.flightsimlabs.com/index.php?/topic/4977-concorde-x-and-p3d-v20/ ... looks like they are accessing specific application memory offsets and it's highly likely those offsets have change in P3D v2.x. PFPX is fine UTII ... if this is referencing Ultimate Traffic 2 then yes it works with a few manual adjustments. VRS F18A ... I believe that is a no, they're using similar application memory offset access PMDG 737 for P3D I believe is in Beta testing (fairly close to being ready as I understand it) Detailed cities will be the same as those in FSX. Aerosoft Airports ... many (not all) will work but no AES support ... you'll probably want to stick with ones that have P3D installers Welcome, Cheers, Rob.
February 26, 201511 yr VRS F18A ... I believe that is a no, they're using similar application memory offset access Rob's correct, for the moment. VRS is beta testing the P3d versions of the Superbug and TacPack. They will only work with the P3d academic license, so keep that in mind: http://forums.vrsimulations.com/forums/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14808
March 1, 201511 yr Author Regarding the issue of P3D license then can you say that certain addons will migrate to one license type but not the other or is it the addon itself has to be updated C:|mydocuments\mypictures\my signature.htm
