autopilot question

Featured Replies

I have not used the PMDG-737 for a long time and if I remember well, once the autopilot is engaged ( VNav and LNav activated ) it should not be possible to

change altitude by pulling/pushing  the yoke or make a lateral movement using the rudder.

Is this correct ?  Just to confirm.

Thank you

Depends what override settings you have in the FMC. I believe you can change it to your preference (that may be the 777 but worth a look).

It should not be possible to override the AP using the yoke or rudder without either disconnecting the autopilot, or the autopilot becoming disconnected by deflecting the control surfaces.

If you can, my bet is that you're in CWS and not CMD.

It might be possible to shear the pin with strong yoke force if the A/P was engaged.

I did it one time when I strongly bumped the yoke by accident..

Once that happens that side A/P will be kaput until you repair/reload the plane.

That would be the indicator that the pin sheared.. If that side A/P still worked

after that, it wasn't a sheared pin/bolt.
