June 17, 200520 yr for a while ago i posted a question about who the best terrain or mesh scenery developer was. The answer was without a doubt FsGenesis. Im just curious to know.. cause right now im holding a creditcard in my right hand and a pair of scissors in the other... should i go for the lifetime membership? is it really worth it?and finally, i got way to many addon airports varying from FlyTampa to Simflyers and ImagineSim. How will this be affected by the major change to flightsim?im sorry if this has been brought up a zillion times before..thanks for all help!Yngve Yngve GiljebrekkeENZV NSB

June 17, 200520 yr First, let me say that Justin Tyme does excellent work. Top quality.Because of future versions of FS, I would just buy the 1 year Startship membership. It entitles you to 75% off and then you won't commit to a lifetime membership, in case new versions of FS are not compatible.Barry
June 17, 200520 yr I see! thanks for the tip kat and all of you! Greatly appreciated! But about the addon scenery question.. either i misunderstood you or you misunderstood me, but what i ment was how does these mesh and terrain data affect addon scenery such as a city/buidlings or my main concern, addon aiports?Yngve Yngve GiljebrekkeENZV NSB
June 17, 200520 yr 1. I own several FSGenesis products and have been pleased with all of them. 2. More accurate terrain can affect how add-ons look -- to see how, you need to consult the docs for the individual add-ons. 3. Abacus is now selling the FSGenesis mesh on DVD. The package is called "World Extreme Landscapes" http://abacuspub.com/wel For US$30 you get FSGenesis mesh for the whole world on three DVDs. Unlike the lifetime membership, it doesn't provide you with free updates. But for the price, it's a pretty good deal. Don't know if it's shipping yet, and don't know if it includes 38m mesh for the US -- but that you can download for free from Flightsim.com. Something to consider, and maybe not so "gutsy" as going for the lifetime membership.
June 17, 200520 yr >How long is a lifetime?Yeah...good question, and hasn't everyone also heard that this is the last FS version MS will release?? Or was the last one the LAST one? So confusing.David

I probably would have come out a few bucks ahead if I would have bought some kind of membership but I never have. One thing to remember is that there are several items on the FSG site that aren't developed "in house". Even with a lifetime membership you still have to pay for those items if you want them. Something to think about....David
June 17, 200520 yr Lifetime Membership...?I am curious who is going to be the first FS addon designer to offer lifetime memberships with the option to deed it to your children. Like a timeshare...:DHave to say though, the FSGenesis looks nice, but the credit card is still in the wallet....:DKev
June 17, 200520 yr What about a Galaxy membership? You get 100% discount for three years. I've already downloaded stuff that would've cost well over $300 if I'd bought them seperatly. That's what I call a GOOD deal!Another advantage: Justins service and support are second to none, just can't be beat!RegardsGrajame (EDHL)
June 18, 200520 yr Well, I bought a Lifetime Membership three versions ago. I'd been buying stuff from Justin for a couple of years then, the scenery he made for FS98 for PA, NY, NJ area etc. SO figured it would be cheaper in the end to get the lifetime membership...The -first- year, I figure it saved me over $50. Every year since then, have been getting all the New scenery, mesh, landclass, at NO additional charge. Havent bothered to figure it out, but bet just on the upgrades for ONE version, have saved more than double the membership cost. The New Mesh and Upgrades just keep coming, and if MS changes the Flight Sim again, requireing upgrades, Justin will be providing them. You may have to check, but I doubt very much that the CD being sold with the world mesh is the 38m mesh you get direct from Jason for the US. IT is I believe 76m Mesh, even in the US, for that price, but could be mistaken.
