ORBX FTX AIRPORTS TUNING AND TWEAKS

Featured Replies

Greetings,

i would like some suggestions on how optimize P3D (V.2.4) FPS perfomance in ORBX Airports.

My Rig:

I7 4790K @4.7GHZ

ATI R9 270X @1.2GHZ

8 GB CORSAIR RAM CL9

I applied the most reccomended .CFG and settings tweaks (FFTF=0.01, Rob's 2.4 settings, frames locked at 30) and so i get 30 FPS (locked) everywhere but in ORBX airports where i'm getting 15-25 FPS not stable.

The odd thing is that i get lower FPS not only in cities like Seattle (with PNW) but also in small areas like Yakutat (and ftx alaska), which airport is very simple (it should be max 10 buildings). So i guess there is something too heavy in the airports features.

EDIT: Forgot the traffic settings, which are pretty low: all at 10% and airport traffic / minimum

So i'm looking at FTX airports optimization: in FTX configurator, perhaps should i un-flag something? Which are the more FPS killer features?

Object Flow? Grass? What else?

I know each airport have different configurator choices, i'm looking at a "general" advice because i have many of them / going to expand in future.

My goal is to reach at least 20-25 FPS with a little less "eye candies"

thanks!

In FSX they had recommended settings for each of their products in the manual that came with the product. I do not own any of the Orbx products for P3D, but I would assume they have recommended settings for P3D too. Every system is different. Some like a lot of autogen, some like a little autogen and some, like me, do not like any autogen. That has a lot to do with the settings.

FTX airports and scenery do not load unless you are in the radius of the airport/scenery. So, if you are flying around Virginia, do not expect FTX airports or scenery to load.

Just some comments on what I know based on a lot of research and use in FSX. I suspect P3D is similar.

Jim, so there are no "general" tweaks to apply to ORBX airports, but i'll have to adjust every airport one by one.

tks

Bye

Hi there,

i lately tweaked some orbx airports in P3D2 dont know if they work in FSX. Sometimes the static aircraft seems to have an impact on performance. For ex PAEN go disable the static ac for that spot and you might gain some fps. The latest version of  WA79 came with new volumetric grass. this is a myjor fps killer so if you have an older version try to replace the newer grass with the older grass.

Try these things @ your own risk and there is no support by orbx

i'll try that thanks

Oh i forgot to mention Perth Jandakot. There you might want to disable the fences to gain some FPS.
