Looking for Airliner advice?

Featured Replies

So I have a new computer and re-installed FSX and most of my add-ons. However I don't think I am going to re-install my Captain Sim 727 or my Level D 767. My thoughts are that I should get something newer and take advantage of what my new computer can do, plus I'm sure the newer airliners are more aesthetically pleasing. I should mention I have the iFly 737 which I re-installed and with the newest updates, I'm pretty happy with it.

Here are my thoughts:

PMDG 747 = it's liklely dated like my LD 767, so not sure much point in that one

iFly 747 = not a lot of info on it, but it sounds like it needs a SP1 to fix it, and not sure when that will be. I thought I read after the new year which was 3 months ago.

PMDG MD-11= I sim real flights so this aircraft is to limited, I don't want to be stuck with FedEx and UPS all the time.

PMDG 777 = might be a good one for me, but I don't know much about it, and it seems nobody talks about this one. I think my learning curve may be reduced (which is a good thing) as it's similar to the 767 is it not?

PMDG 737= don't think so as I already have the iFly 737 and good with that, I know PMDG is better

So I'm thinking it might be between the iFly 747 (after the SP comes out), or PMDG 777 are my top candidates unless:

- am I missing any?

- is there anything coming down the pipeline I should just wait for?

Love Airplanes and American Muscle Cars

I think the PMDG 777 isn't talked about as much simply because not as many people have the time for a long haul flight typical of the 777.

I wouldn't overlook the PMDG 737 NGX.  Even though you have the iFly, it is quite honestly not in the ball park (I hate to say that, I'm not a fan of their public relations).  The PMDG is more complete, smoother, and performs better.

I'd also add the Majestic Q400 and the Airbus AXE.  Neither has failure modeling, but are fully complete for normal operations systems.  And they are light on systems.

The 747 v2 is on the way.

I have the PMDG 737, and it is absolutely marvelous. It feels different than any other aircraft I've flown in FS- it feels just like flying a real machine. It may not be good for you as you have the iFly, but something to think about I guess

If you feel like branching out to regional flying, try the Majestic Q400. Also phenomenal. In the same category, release of the Aerosoft CRJ-700/900 is imminent. Sticking with regional flying, the PMDG J41 is awesome.

Which reminds me of the Aerosoft Airbus, which I've heard great things about. You may want to consider if if you don't care if failures (or wingflex) are not modeled.

Finally, Aerosoft is developing an A330, but it may not come out for another year or two.
