  1. Seems to be a narrow minded and/or condescending statement. I’ve been flying Microsoft fight sims 20+ years on $4,000 -$ 5,000 over-clocked computers and played the software/hardware chase game that entire time. The best Flight Sim decision I ever made was to quit buying those $4,000 computers and get an Xbox Series X. It validates my decision even more now that I can fly aircraft with the quality as this A2A Comanche and the PMDG’s. I had all of A2A’s GA aircraft in FSX, and so this was an insta-buy for me. I’m happy to say I like this new version of the Comanche even better than the FSX version I had due to improvements Scott and his team made. I’m happy to support A2A once again. 🙂
  2. I was on the Xbox and just completed a flight in my Hondajet when I remembered this question I saw last night, and I have not flown my C414 in a while. Anyway I loaded up a cold and dark C414 and it started up just fine just as normal.
  3. I’ve been waiting to see if the PMDG 737-700 or 800 go on a Christmas Sale, which it did not, so I picked up the 600 instead which was also not on sale but half the price of the 700-800. What a bargain even at full price. With only 69 real ones built I’ve flown in several around Western Canada here over the years and so I’m having a blast with it flying these routes in my neck of the woods.
  4. Late to the party but I vote CYQR, it’s the capital of Saskatchewan but also somewhat central between Calgary and Winnipeg.
  5. I think your memory was spot on Ryan. I flew the hec of my Real Air Dukes and used the piston version for short hops because it was faster and the turbine for the longer missions for the same reason. I always pushed them both and never hurt the engines in the piston, but I did destroy a couple of the turbines. The turbine was the newer of the two (by Real Air) and so it was slightly more realistic from an engine damage perspective. Man that turbine could climb like a home sick angel…
  6. Is it me or did the VAMS page disappear from the MDF? I cant get the Bose headphones off the dash.
  7. Another one that comes to mind is my Kitfox. I usually fly my Freedom Fox version, but if that’s too slow there is another version that is quite a bit faster due to much more horsepower. I love the clear doors on them and they can take off and land in so many places, and with the high wing it’s out of the way so to speak. Also I don’t really equate a jet with low and slow, but I love my Visionjet which has fantastic visibility and you can slow it down nicely to speeds not much faster than some prop planes, which allows you to use many airfields. In addition it has the ability to clip along if you want that too.
  8. For low flying and sightseeing (if that’s what you are after) visibility is high on my priority list. Planes like the C208, Kodiak, Cessna 310, Cessna 414 don't have great sightseeing visibility even though they are great flying airplanes. As Bert mentioned i love my Vans RV14 because it flies nice, cruises along nice and great sight lines. I think there is a Newer RV10 out now but I have not tried it yet. Just my $.02.
  9. I had 4 A2A GA planes in FSX, and all were set up such that I did a walk around pre-flight exterior inspection prior to jumping in the cockpit. Apparently I flew them enough that I had to do repairs and such to worn flaps etc, and oil changes to the engines and selecting what viscosity of oil I used. I am unaware of any aircraft in MSFS that are matching those details. I only wish A2A would do a nice twin such as the Beech Duke 60 or Piper PA-23. I flew the heck out of my A2A PA-24 in FSX, not sure it would see a lot of air time in MSFS, I’d rather “move on” to something different from them. Oh ya, and I had to change my fouled up spark plugs from time to time. LOL
  10. To help FPS, one thing I liked about my Kodiak is the ability to pull the fuse for the co-pilots PFD as I never need/use it anyway. I wish all developers would do this for any of the more sophisticated GA aircraft that tend to be a little more demanding on computer. I have the Vision Jet and Honda Jet, love them both!
  11. That’s great to hear from a company that seems extremely quiet. I was thinking about them the other day because in my FSX days they always had an annual pre Christmas sale a few weeks before Christmas. I was hoping to see some of their MSFS planes go on sale, unless I missed it.
  12. One of the first FSX planes I bought was the Level D 767, and in addition to that Chris Palmer had a how to DVD that went through all the switches/systems/functions. At that time I had a top of the line computer so I could run it all with excellent results (graphics turned up). About a year later I was talking with an Air Canada 767 pilot while waiting for our 767 to arrive and take us to Hawaii for vacation. So sitting around for an hour (plane was late) and we had quite the interesting discussion, and the captain was quite surprised at my level of knowledge of the 767. BTW he flew the “Gimli Glider” many times after the incident and knew exactly which plane it was every time he flew it. Now fast forward a bit to when we were in the 767 and he had his cockpit all set up etc but was stiil waiting for the ground crew to load etc, he invited me into the cockpit for about 20-25 minutes to go over stuff and show me the real thing. I was blown away at his generosity and giving up his time, but I think he really enjoyed too. As a side note, we also discussed his times landing at the old Kai-Tak airport in Hong Kong, and said it was one of his favourites because you really got to show your skills and nerve. Sorry to ramble on, but it was one of the best days of my life, and thanks to my Level D 767 for opening that door. LOL
  13. I have all 3 for MSFS2020 on my Xbox, and for the most part quite happy with them for the price with one exception. None of these 3 have any landing lights or taxi lights that shed any light on the runway. It’s a shame because the interior night lighting is pretty good and so I like flying at night quite a bit, but the immersion is ruined on the ground and landing so super unrealistic as I fly to many small airports that are not all lit up. All three planes have bright landing lights that will blind you if you look at them from the front, but they don’t illuminate the ground at all in front of the aircraft. My default aircraft all have fully functioning landing lights, so this issue is specific the my Carenado planes. I find it hard to believe they would spend the time to get the interior lights so good, and then completely drop the ball on landing lights. Can any Xbox users confirm if they have landing lights that actually light the runway with any of these three planes?
  14. I’m on Xbox, and have been in the content manager many times since the update and have not had the Assistance reset to Easy. I almost go into Content Manager daily to see if I have updates. I did have the reset to Easy happen on the one and only time I went into the Bush Trips area looking over how that section changed. I didn’t do any Bush Trips, just went there to look, and then had the Easy reset happen so I thought my reset seemed to happen from that. I have not been back to Bush Trips to test again. FWIW Bush Trips is now divided into 2 sections one for default trips and one for aftermarket purchased trips.
  15. As an FSX simmer since it came out, I could not be more happy with MSFS on my Xbox series X. I could write paragraphs why I think the X is a better platform for me, but the technology aspect is a one reason. I can’t count the hours I spent tweaking my computers and chasing bugs for what 15 years. I don’t miss that one bit. Now I spend all my sim time flying, not tweaking.
  16. OK, I heard back from Carenado and the fix was simple as I needed to change the flight model from Legacy to Modern. Being new to MSFS2020 on the recently released Xbox version I didn’t even know what those two settings are for and what the differences are between them. Anyway the Piper fly’s really nice now!
  17. The Just flight model isn’t available on the Xbox, the Carenado is.
  18. Anybody else buy The Piper PA-28 Arrow III for MSFS Xbox? Does it fly? I just bought it. Once i get to 60 knots on my take off the plane tries to tip over and goes out of control on 2 wheels and I can’t get it in the air. I can’t get it above 60 knots but that doesn’t help when I have a wind dragging along the ground. Also if I start a flight in mid air the plane just rolls over and dives to the ground. This only happens with this plane and I’ve checked everything out like winds, weight and balance, make sure autopilot is off, failures are off etc. I’ve simmed since FSX came out and like to think I know how to fly a plane, like I said all the others fly fine. I sent an email to Carenado support but who knows if and when I may hear back. Anybody have any ideas what I could do if anything. Can I reinstall it some how?
  19. Thanks guys. I did an IFR flight today with a distance of 200 nm. As such my cruise altitude would be about FL200. I had clouds and cold/icing type conditions through 15,000' so I didn't shut off the inertial separator and move the 850 lever up until after I broke through the top of the clouds. I know icing conditions are not simulated but I still like to fly as if it did.
  20. I was thinking of using it at some point during the climb but maybe not on early climb out. The way I understand it is that the Inertial Separator should be on for Taxi and Take-off and continue to stay on if there are icing conditions. During this time you would not want the lever in the 850 position until after the Inertial Separator has been turned off. At some point the lever should be moved up to the 850 hp position, I'm just not sure exactly when. Steveokinevo may have covered it in one of his videos, but I don't remember which one.
  21. At what point should the 850 HP lever be moved into that position? Obviously for cruise, but should it be before that on the climb out or at a certain altitude? I do a lot of shorter flights of 100 N.M. so my maximum altitude is only up to 10,000 ft for those.
  22. Great tip, thank you! My two rear landing gear tires were indeed locking up. I went into the keyboard controls and assigned CTRL + SHIFT + B = On/Off anti-skid which turns it on and now my tires don't lock up. BTW CTRL + B and Shift + B were already assigned to other things. Anyway I will add this to my pre-flight checklist now.
  23. Well my Hobbs meter shows 8 hours now with most of that today using V1.1. I'm glad they updated it so quickly as I had the day off today. :-) I certainly don't consider myself qualified for a review, but here are some early thoughts. Pros: - I've waited years for somebody to make a decent Mooney (still flew my Carenado M20J from time to time), and overall I'm very happy with this Alabeo V1.1 offering. - I love the lines of the Mooney's in general and find they look like they are going 150kts just sitting on the tarmac. Alabeo did a fantastic job both inside and outside and with the liveries. - Very happy they passed on the glass panel and used steam gauges, but I also like the modern digital/analog gauges above the six pack too. - Glad they choose the M20R with it's IO550 engine, love the additional power over my M20J for the longer missions. I have not tried it in the mountains yet, but I'm sure I will like it's climbing power. - This aircraft runs very smooth, I'm not a FPS guy (and have a very good computer), all I care about is smooth operation. - Auto pilot works great and is easy to operate. - It's a nice change from my usual A2A Pipers and Cessna's. and I don't really compare them as those aircraft were priced accordingly. - The battery selector switch at least functions now, along with the other fixes. - Night time cockpit lighting is done pretty well. - As I have read about this aircraft it's quite slippery, and I would agree, so I love the speed brakes. Cons: - I wish they had done a better job with the Taxi and Landing Lights (but very few seem to get that right, IMO). Looking from the cockpit they don't light up the area in front of the aircraft as good as I would expect. Then again I've never sat in a real one. - As somebody else mentioned the brakes seem weak after touchdown, so for short runways you really have to hit the numbers. The again never been in a real one. Anyway just my $.02
  24. Found it, it's in the control panel > programs > uninstall/change and has an uninstall option. BTW I also found this article. http://www.mooneypilots.com/mapalog/M20R Evaluation/M20R.htm
  25. In this M20R sim the speed brakes function very well. I've just used the "/" key on my keyboard for on/off, but there must be a button in the cockpit somewhere, but I have not found it, like the Hobbs meter.
