  1. Do we have any idea when it might be released? Will it be glass or steam? I'd prefer a 350 over the 200's, but not sure how long I want to wait.
  2. Yes, that's what I meant to say, "All in one Product". Awesome and thanks.
  3. Quick question as I have never purchased an A2A or Accusim product before. If I buy, download, and install this plane from the link in this post, is it ready to fly as the complete package? So no other downloads or programs for the accusim part etc (besides the manual)? Thanks.
  4. Did they put rudders on the Twotters floats this time around?
  5. This might be completely different but your question reminded me of something I noticed in mine. While in cruise I noticed it appeared to me that when looking at a side view of the fuselage in external camera mode, the Q400 has a slight nose down attitude at cruise. Now did it just appear that way or could it have been due to the loads in the aircraft I don't know, or maybe thats normal for a high wing liner. Anyway in my quality low wing airliners they have a slight nose up attitude while in cruise, just like the pictures I see of the real aircraft. Next time I fly the Q400 I will have to check my elevators more closely while in cruise. I find it hard to believe the elevators in your pic would be considered normal at cruise, and it appears it would certainly cause some drag and a slight nose down attitude, but what do I know?
  6. I did the following Island Air legs yesterday. PHJH-PHNL-PHLI-PHOG-PHTO. Anyway I didn't land at Lahaina-Kapalua but started from there and took out the perimeter fence with my landing gear on liftoff. LOL
  7. Yep, same here. I have since done 3 flights now and the props looked just fine.
  8. I agree, and was hoping that livery would have come as part of the original package. Love flying around the Hawaiian Islands.
  9. The engines definately didn't shut down as I was flying just fine, holding altitude and speed etc. Also the sounds matched what my throttles were doing too. The only issue was the props visually turned like they were in slow motion. On the ground I could feather the props (change the angle of the blades) watch it happen, but the props still rotated very slow. Anyway after reading Lenny's post above I fired it up and did a short flight and the prop animations were perfectly fine, or back to normal. Since yesterday I had shut down the computer and started it again today, so maybe that was it. I will post if I have more issues with it.
  10. So I flew twice yesterday and the aircraft seemed to function fine. My only issue was to calibrate my throttle so that the plane didn't go into thrust reverse when I pulled my Saitek X52 throttle back to about 40%. So tonite I calibrated the throttle and it functions really nice, plus the sounds match up well etc. However it appears to have caused a problem with the prop animations. I noticed doing a flight tonite my props looked OK at start up, but once I applied power they barely rotate now, even at full throttle. It literally takes a few seconds for the prop to do one revolution, plus the prop sort of skips around a little. It looks like the prop is rotating in very slow motion. I'm certain it wasn't doing that yesterday. Anybody else experiance this after calibrating the engine throttle to your throttle controller?
  11. Ha ha, ya actually that was $2,500 about 6 years ago with a few upgrades over the years, but thanks for asking. I have tweaked for 5 of those 6 years to get it to this point. Maybe what I should have said was it's not just the computer I don't want to replace but also all the time I have invested. Even still a new computer still might not good enough and require lots of trial and error. Maybe I'm stubborn but I don't want to go through all that again.
  12. Yep, thats kind of my whole point. If you are just selling an aircraft that only people with new high end computers can run, then you are limiting your market. Give us options and you open the door for all your potential customers. I'm for leading edge technology with all the bells and whistles, but I'm not going to turf my $2,500 computer which works perfectly fine for a new one so I can run their airplanes. On my system the C90B runs prety good in Orbx scenery when I use the light version. Using the regular version it gets choppy so I refuse to fly them. Other companies such as Real Air still give you the option to lighten the load (so to speak) and it seems Carenado has gone away from that. But who am I to say what they should be doing...
  13. I agree, it seems most people don't care for the glass panels, including me. I might also add it seems like Carenado has also gone away from lite versions of their aircraft as well, at least with it's last three new FSX offerings. After a dozen aircraft and many years, they have pretty much lost me as a customer because I won't buy an aircraft that may not run well on my older puter with all the scenery add-ons and such.
  14. A few years ago I had a marathon day of flying. The object for me was to simulate a day in the life of a Westjet 737, to see what they go through (not the pilot, but the PLANE). I live in Western Canada and Westjet flies some nice routes out this way, plus many are short at 1-1.5 hours or less so I could get lots of legs in. Now the trick was to figure all the routes that a particular planes flies in one day. As my luck would have it I found out watching one of my Westjet Just Planes DVD's. There was one shot in which the pilot held up a slip of paper that had all the flights that this particular aircraft was scheduled to fly that day. I paused the DVD and wrote them down, then went to the Westjet website to verify all those flights were still legit, but also to get the flight times as well. I started the next day in the dark at about 6am and flew about 10-11 legs through Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Kelowna, Fort Mac, Vancouver, Prince George, and shut the airplane down in the dark at at about 11pm, for a total of about 17 hours. I used real times and took real breaks between legs just as the aircraft did. What was also interesting is I did this in the winter using real world weather, and so flying that long over those distances I saw the weather change many times going from good to bad to foggy etc (even had 1 or 2 go-arounds), and of course the sunrise and sunset. Also I covered territory from Vancouver Island to the Rocky Mountains to the plains of Saskatchewan. It might have been my greatest day of FSX ever, but I was sure worn out by the end, and thus have never attempted to do that again. Plus it's hard for me to set aside and entire day to do this. If I learned one thing, it's that these airplanes are incredible workhorses, and I don't think many people (outside of the ones in that industry) realize what these planes do and go though, every single day!
  15. I too was considering this plane as my computer is no longer "state of the art", and I love the 3 holers, but after reading this thread I wonder if it might not be the plane for me? I'm not a hard core simmer, and by that I mean I don't fly all that realistically. My enjoyment is mostly from hand flying and I'd rather do that than program an FSM or Auto Pilot etc. I fly my CS 727 mostly by hand up to cruise altitude, then run the AP for that part and hand fly the decent and landing. Is this MD-11 not a good for hand flyer, or should I say is it an extremely challenging aircraft to hand fly? I have no problems flying the LD767, CS727, or iFly737. Last question. Being we are close to Christmas, might the PMDG go on sale soon?
  16. First off, GREAT THREAD that is long overdue. I'm sure to surprise many with the second of my 2 regrets. 1- Captain Sim 727- Thanks to this fiasco I learned early on to research my purchases first. This plane was loaded with so many bugs, and any support was a complete nightmare and waste of time. Some of the fixes were solved by customers spending hours and hours of their own time to solve the problems. I like to FLY, not FIX a broken product that should never been sold to others or myself. 2- Orbx/FTX New Zealand South Island- Having bought many of their regions before this one, I put my trust in them that they would not put out a broken prouduct. That trust was broken with this purchase and I have come to realize that they too have fallen victim to mentality of "rush it out the door, fix later when time permits so we can get more regions done and out there on the market while we are in demand". My main issue is the broken wind socks that point in different directions no matter what the wind is doing. Basically you can't fly over an airport and use the wind socks to determine which runway you are going to land on. Yes I can "cheat" for the untowered airports (of which there is many) to find out what the wind is doing, but this is to be a simulation, not an arcade game. Anyway this product has been out for almost a year now and still no fix. Some may consider this no big deal, but I do. I have not flown NZSI since it came out, so ya I certainly regret buying it. BTW I probably don't need to point out that in this time 2 other regions have since been released, and several airports. I know there is different groups working on different products, but that doesn't make me feel any better. I am always amazed at how a product gets released with what I consider to be such a obvious flaw? How did this get past the testing stages? Did nobody use wind or real world weather? It must have just been ignored. Anyway the problem we face as Flight Sim consumers is that many products we purchase can't be returned if we are not satisfied with the product. I feel my only recourse is to simply no longer support these companies by purchasing more of their products and giving them more of my money. Since I bought the 727 about 5 years ago I have never purchased another Captain Sim product, nor will I ever. Also I have not bought another Orbx/FTX product since NZSI almost a year ago.
  17. I have both, bought each one when they came out, but since buying the Legacy I have not flown the Orbx even once. I enjoy flying the Legacy much better, but one thing that really spoils the Orbx for me is the engine sound. Am I the only one the that thinks the Orbx Lancair sounds like a Mosquito buzzing around your ear? I have never heard what a real one sounds like, but the Legacy to me sounds MUCH more convincing. Sounds are important too.
  18. Something strange is happening in the last couple days. Whenever I log into the Avsim forms (any forum it doesn't matter), I no longer see the Titles people have given their threads in the menu. Therfore I have to actually click on each specific thread to see what it is about. All the other info is there such as the person who started it, when, replies etc, just not the most important part, the topic title. Maybe I accidently changed one of my settings somehow? I really don't know? However when I use these forums with my iPad the topic titles are indeed showing, so it seems like it's something with this computer. Also I don't have any issues with 10 other forums I belong to, so the problem is unique to this website on this computer. Anybody know why the topic titles are not showing for me?
  19. Up until now I was unfamiliar with Milviz. That is a great price, and I like to support companies that give us deals. Thanks Colin. I don't really need two new twin engine planes, but I need a little help with a couple questions to decide which one to get. 1- To a CASUAL simmer, is this Baron 55 much different than the Carenado Baron 58 I recently bought? They almost look and sound the same to me. Also is the 55 a slower than the 58? 2- I just noticed the 310R has both steam guages and glass panel, and the glass interests me a little more as I have several twins already with steam. Is there a noticeable hit on frames with the glass panel? 3- I can run the Real Air and Carenado aircraft OK on my older computer, but have no experiance with the Milviz, does the B55 or C310R have comparable FPS?
  20. Thanks CoolP, will hopefully get a chance this weekend to try it out.
  21. Ok thanks guys. I downloaded and tried to install but had problems. I think I screwed up steps 3 & 4 from the read-me file that says: 3. Copy the 208ng.air file into the Carenado 208 aircraft folder. 4. Suggest to rename the original 208 air file or to change the file extension. If you don't and you add repaints the might end up using the old airfile. I'm not sure I understand this and I don't know what an airfile is so step 4 I'm lost. Do I have to do these steps? What if I change each aircraft to sim=C208_ng, or are these two issues something completely different? Thanks.
  22. I just picked up the C208 and cargo pack and am very pleased. Is this new FDE a no brainer must have? My thoughts are it flies pretty good now, but I have only done 2 flights. What exactly has the new FDE improved if you don't mind me asking?
  23. I think it's called the HSI or horizontal situation indicator. Anyway it's the top LCD display gauge situated between the Air speed indicator and the altimiter. Sometimes it comes on and works fine and sometimes when I start a flight it doesn't and I'm not sure why. When it doesn't work, it still shows things in the display like the words "Rockwell 1995", the icon for my airplane, "FD" and "GPS" inside a red squares, but it doesn't show the ground or the horizon, it's just all black. There is a few switches inside the cockpit that I don't know what they do, but none of them seem to have any effect on this gauge/display. I wonder if this is operator or if there is a problem with C90B's? FWIW I always start my flights with a cold and dark cockpit, and noticed on this last flight although everything was cold and dark, the default C90B GPS was on in the panel. Again I don't know why. Anyway the HSI is a fairly important gauge to have, anybody know why mine might not be working properly? Thanks.
  24. Ya I tried it and then edited the cfg to make it better but still having some issues, the windows are all black and the virtual cockpit is too. Probably needs more time spent on it or somebody that knows what they are doing. LOL Oh well, I tried the regular non-lite version and it seems to work just fine and fly's smooth now. Maybe my puter was having a bad day before, or the SP1 SP2 makes a difference? Thanks again.
