April 6, 201511 yr Why can't the NGX be as simple as the 747 or the J4100 to install? Recently had a hard drive crash, so I had to start all over and reinstall everything. Everything in FSX installs flawlessly, except for the NGX products. I've already submitted a ticket at PMDG, and I understand that it can be kind of slow to get a response, but I though I ask anyone here who probably had the same error I show, "Incident# 0800-31118180". Let me say first that last year there was an issue with FSX, not my hard drive, and I also did a fresh install last time. At that time I had an issue saying that I didn't have the right key number. I have both the NGX base and expansion 737 series. It was always asking me to activate the NGX every time I fire up FSX to use it. This time is different, it just refuses to accept my key. The funny think is that if I launch the base package, and I use the right key number for it, it totally doesn't like it. But if I use the expansion key on the base package, it accepts it and lets me in FSX, and the plane fires up, except, it tells me it's not activated. Of course, I'm sure it is because it wasn't the right key, but I don't understand why it even tells me in the beginning that the NGX has been activated. This is a really buggy product to get it to activate and verify that I'm using the correct key. I hope PMDG response soon to my submitted key, but in the mean time, has anyone ever gone through this issue? Oh yes, one last thing, I did install the very latest and updated version of the NGX, which I downloaded fresh from PMDG. Johnny Rosario
April 6, 201511 yr Commercial Member I hope PMDG response soon to my submitted key, but in the mean time, has anyone ever gone through this issue? Just for the record, the J41 uses the same license key system as the NGX. You've hit the max activations on the key for installing it too many times (two activations were used on the same day somehow). We've updated the NGX to be like the 777 where you can return the license before doing anything to your computer (installing new hardware, reimaging it, reinstalling the OS, and so on). This will help you to avoid hitting this limit in the future. I've passed the ticket on to someone else who can override that max activations issue. Kyle Rodgers

April 6, 201511 yr Commercial Member Thank you Kyle, for your quick and clear response. I look forward to having the issue resolved soon. You're welcome! If I see someone else pop online, I'll bug them about it. We're one man down since he's off on company travel. He normally takes care of the early morning issues like this one. Kyle Rodgers
April 6, 201511 yr Hi Kyle, While you are at it, Is there a way for the enduser to find out how many activations are left or he used? kind regards Just my 2 cent's ____________________________________________________Richard Oberwinkler
April 6, 201511 yr Commercial Member While you are at it, Is there a way for the enduser to find out how many activations are left or he used? There isn't. The latest function that allows people to return their license should sidestep this issue entirely, though. The only way people will still run into issues is if they're constantly trying to return the license a whole bunch within a set time period. I don't know what the time period actually is, but people usually run into this when they try to do weird things like reinstall their OS weekly for some reason (for those who think this is a good idea because some tweaking guide told you, it's not). April 6, 201511 yr Hi Thanks, I thought so - never had any problems with PMDG products soo far, and yes I do reinstall different FS Versions and OS's some times to test them and find the optimal solution. not because ist written in any guide or so, just to test different settings, Overclocks, Hardware and Software setups and combinations thereof - and not all of them FS related...... and sometimes different parts of the hardware might just die.....;-)) Anyhow, PMDG and FSDT sofar are the only ones as far as I know which have such an activation/deactivation solution, I just hope SimMarket at some point introduces a similar system where the end user is able to activate/deactivate his license for the scenery's he bought there.... (But that is a nother story.....) kind regards Just my 2 cent's ____________________________________________________Richard Oberwinkler
