It was pretty much all like that.  think Sanderson did what he could, but......... it all just ended on a flat note, for me.

That in a nutshell was the real problem. Robert Jordan had the vision, he likely dreamed the vision over the decades!

 

Unfortunately, "The Vision" cannot be transplanted from one writer to another....

 

...even if there had been time for Jordan and Sanderson to make the attempt.

 

As I said before, when writing to his own vision Brian Sanderson is a gifted story-teller in his own right. He was trying to complete this set of massive multi-threaded arcs, but simply has a completely different "voice" and "vision" than Jordan had.

 

Although I thoroughly enjoy Jordan's writing, he was at times overly focused on details that were quite frankly inconsequential and wholly tangential to the story. For that he is the first recipient of my coveted "VVVV" award*. :Just Kidding:

 

It's as though Rand might have noticed a particularly pretty rock, then stopped for a few hours and considered the entire geological genealogy of that rock since the world was formed; pointless and inconsequential; a lot like that dagger and the evil wind.

 

On the other hand, had Jordan lived to complete the story himself, it would likely have taken six volumes rather than the three Sanderson produced!
