XAudio2_4.dll

Hi.

Just reinstalled W7 pro and now I have CTD in Steam. It was OK till I installed PMDG777/NG. Looks like something to do with XAudio2_4.dll

Is it something to do with my wireless headphones or it is W7 related?

Thx

Some fixed this problem by updating DX9c - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34429

You can check to see if there are any errors with your directX program by clicking on the Start button, type Run in the Search bar then look up in the Menu and click on Run. Once Run is running, type dxdiag and then click on Okay.

Some fixed this problem by changing the sampling for your sound driver program. If you did not mess with sound sampling though in your sound card configuration, then I would not mess with this suggestion.

Some fixed this problem by making sure they had the proper sound device enabled in the FSX-SE settings. Open up FSX-SE and go to Sound Settings and make sure the proper device has been selected under Windows Sound Devices. It should show the default, or Speakers for your sound card or maybe your wireless headphones. Did you install the device drivers for your wireless headphones? Did you check with the manufacturer of the device to make sure you have the latest drivers installed? Many times the drivers that came with the device are out of date.

I remember you had this same problem back in 2012 - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/392422-fsx-ctd-while-changing-viewsmenus-and-on-exit/

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Jim.

I have Steelseries H Wireless headphones and the developer said there was no any drivers updates because it is a relatively new product, and I selected it in FSX as a default sound device. All other sound devices like monitors speakers I disabled, I fly in a headphones.

I ran that "Ran" option and I am not sure what to look for?. There are several tabs in the window System, Display, Sound 1...In all windows below it shows No problem found.

As for Direct X I have DirectX 11 version. I am wondering if there is something to do with latest NVIDIA driver update. I installed 352.86 and HD Audio Driver 1.3.34.3 came with the package.

I flew today and it did not crash.

I just updated DX9c, will see how it goes.

In the topic back from 2012 I was dealing with my old HP computer, that one no longer exist, I built new one specifically for FSX.

Thank you

This error does not happen to many but you got it twice.  Very unlucky person!

I do not know of any FS program that uses DX11.  DX9c is the latest for FS as far as I know.  If FSX-SE can use DX11, it will install it as the norm is DX9c.
