Although I live in Florida, I have never been to Pensacola. This is the current home of the US Navy Blue Angels, and at the Naval Air Station, there is what Im told to be, a fantastic air museum. It should be not too far out of the way for you if you are driving from New Orleans to Orlando. If youre flying, then it's too far to drive in my opinion from either city to Pensecola. It also just got hit by Hurricane Dennis, hopefully little damage sustained. Also, There's a museum of sorts just west of Orlando between there and Tampa, but it has no where near the aircraft that the air museum in Penscola has. Savannah, Georgia is nice for the downtown area, as is Saint Augustine, Florida (which is 2 hrs north East of Orlando. You may be able to get a tour in of Embry Riddle University at Daytona, 1 hour East of Orlando and there's also Kennedy Space Ctr, 1 hour or so SE of Orlando!Eric

There is a Warbird Museum in Kissimee, FL near Orlando. In New Orleans, the French Quarter is a must. The food is the attraction. Crawfish etoufee, jambalaya, gator on a stick, pralines, and cafe au lait and bignets at the Cafe du Monde. MMMmmm MMMmmm MMMmmm!!!Jim

Jim, Has that Warbird Museum in Kissimee open again???? I was there many years ago at one east of Kissimee but that one closed not long after that... As we go there at least once a year I would be where it is so I can take it in... That is if diesel fuel isn't so high we can't make the trip....ThanksRon

I'm not sure Ron, it was a few years ago when I was there. But I thought I saw someone post some pictures from there on one of the forums recently.Jim

I dunno, doesn't ring a belle with me.:D

Hi All;/www.fantasyofflight.com Is this that of which you speak?:-lol If so its located in Lakeland Fl, very close to Kissimee/Orlando. Johan, I know you're a fan of the vintage aircraft so check itout. Also, in New Orleans... The D-Day Museum might be worth your time, especially after checking out "The Belle" in Memphis. New Orleanas is cool, I was there once, it's pretty dirty and the roads are in bad shape, but when you get past all that, it's a very historic place, check out the French quarter and the architecture.BTW: If you start a topic saying that it will be moved, the moderators won't move it, I proved this theory not too long ago.Disregard my next two posts, they are somehow copies of this post.Jeff

Nope, this is the place I was talking about:http://www.warbirdmuseum.com/Unfortunately it was destroyed by a hurricane last year and is closed. There are a few pics on the webpage. It says they are relocating to Douglas, Georgia.Jim

I just flew my Baron to Lakefront airport in New Orleans for the 1st time last year (that is almost worth the trip-what a cool airport). What a great town-of course the French 1/4, garden district, check out the graveyards and some of the best eating you will ever have..My son is going to LSU in Baton Rouge so I will be probably flying down there quite a bit now-and I understand the drive from New Orleans to Baton Rouge has some of the greatest historic plantations to have tours in.I also hit the air museum in Pensacola last year-well worth it-one of the greats!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

I've been to Pensacola once, the museum is well worth visiting. What I don't know if whether it's open to non-US citizens after 9/11. I did notice when investigating which museums in the PNW to visit last years that a lot of museums on active bases there are now closed to foreigners (and some are closed to all except US military personel and their families).http://naval.aviation.museum/intro.html

In Memphis, do a "Pub Crawl" on Beale Street which is one of the homes of Blues and Soul music. There is a B.B. Kings which is great and across the street is a BarBQ place that is one of the best in America. I can't remember the name but it is just opposite B.B. Kings.Enjoy. BE CAREFUL in New Orleans. Don't go wandering around the side streets off the beaten path in the 1/4 at night.
