July 12, 200520 yr Got to love the PBY. Takes off at 95 knots; cruises at 95 knots, lands at 95 knots. Did they provide a "black cat" livery? Trivia: what were Ike's other three things. One was the amphibious DUCW, I know that for sure. I think the others were the higgins boat and the duece and a half truck. Correct me if I'm wrong.

July 12, 200520 yr Author Bruce, do you have "Active Camera"? If so is the interior done enough to tour the inside? I was real impressed with their video that also used "Active Camera" even though the size of the file is almost the same as the airplane itself. Thanks
July 14, 200520 yr Of course the Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster, Bouncing Bomb had nothing to do with it...When will they learn ;)RegardsAdam
July 14, 200520 yr >Of course the Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster, Bouncing Bomb>had nothing to do with it...>>When will they learn ;)>>Regards>>Adam>Neither did the Red Army and Air Force, inexact quote "Red Army needs IL2 Sturmovik like Red Army needs bread" J. Stalin. Plus the CVEs also helped beat the u-boats...Sorry, anyway looks very nice, a winner and one of my fave classic planes.
July 14, 200520 yr >>Anyway, as you say, it's nothing to get too excited about. I>don't think it would stop me buying the product if I wanted it>badly enough.>Markings on an aircraft are either right or wrong, there is no gray area. It would be like someone producing a nice 777, then screw up the Cathay Pacific markings. :) It would really make me question their research and accuracy. So I think it's simply lazyness on Alphasim's part that they don't take the time to get it right (how much more time would it take anyway?), which kind of turns me off from buying it. Todd
July 14, 200520 yr Actually, this is the most accurate observation in my opinion, at least in the european theatre. Without the Russian army's willingness to absorb casualties we American's can't even fathom, there would have been no D-Day or victory in Europe as we know it. I wish this fact were more widely discussed. You can hate the regime, but you can't ignore that without the sacrifice of those Russian men and women, the world would be a much different place.

Totally true. But you'll have difficulty convincing most Americans of that. In a New York college freshmen survey, over 70% thought the Soviet Union fought on the side of Nazism. A strange comment from a country that had a really bad dude as Man of the Year in their 1938 issue of Time Magazine. I'm not bashing America here; I'm an American myself. It's the truth, nevertheless.Nevertheless, a supreme sacrifice on the part of the Soviets, I would agree; had the United States not even entered the war, the Soviet Union would still have mopped ###### Germany up. Hard to imagine, but the statistics were something like: for every German soldier killed by Americans/British/Canadians, the Soviets killed twenty.Anyway... we return to our regularly scheduled program: the Alphasim PBY!
July 14, 200520 yr if the only fault so far people can find is just a simple bar that's incorrect then thats a good sign

What year was that survey? It's so incredible, in a I don't disbelieve it way, that it sounds like it came off of Jay Leno! *grin?*>Anyway... we return to our regularly scheduled program: the>Alphasim PBY!I have it. I like it (but I must admit I didn't count the rivets either). It includes the fwd cockpit only in the VC. There are some niggles that will be patched shortly (alot of people disliked the copilot, extreme weather vaning in the water, etc). I've bought a lot of Alphasim's products. Their panels tend toward lower cost, but their models are fun and usually unique (how many companies have done a Whitley? Or a Halifax? etc. *grin*). Their product support has been nothing short of outstanding in my book. I'm not overjoyed at their price trend of late, but their panels have improved a bit with that curve (I enjoy working on panels, so they're not an issue for me). The big thing with them for me is their choices of models and their support.
