FS Passengers & Others...

Just a quick question as I am curious, if you are a current user of FS Pax, FS HotSeat, or FS2Crew, are you still using it for EVERY flight?Has it lost its appeal? Would you buy the package today, using for a for every flight for a week or so?Would like to hear comments on FS2Crew and FSHotSeat.I have read some comments that this has happened with FSHotSeat and other add-ons like this.I'll pose this question again in another month or so.Thanks!Barry

BarryI purchased fs2crew for my pmdg 737ng and as good as the program is, i uninstalled it.This wasn't because i though the program was bad, quite the opposite, the program is TOO good. Unfortunately, the amount of time that i have available to use fs, prevents me following all of the checklists and procedures every time i fly.If you have the time, then fs2crew provides a superbly realistic cockpit environment to fly in. If time in tight, then maybe it's not for you.Hope this helpsGary

Barry,I purchased FSPassengers, as well as FS2Crew and FSHotseat and have used FSEconomy (the latter is freeware). All have their place on my hard drive although I find FS2Crew and FSEconomy take more time than I am usually willing to spend. FS2Crew works great if you step through the process perfectly and with some practice I was able to use it. I've since forgotten everything I learned! I am guessing the ATR version will be awesome since it is more closely integrated.I would use FSHotseat consistently if it ran on a second PC with WideFS but I find it takes just enough extra PC power that I'm not willing to bother on most flights.FSEconomy is a pretty amazing tool but it doesn't always allow me to fly what I want where I want, which is critical given I don't have much time to sim. FSPassengers is a great compromise! People got too hung up on the "screaming passenger" thing, which is a very minor and subtle component. The program is very flexible in allowing customization and it provides some functionality that we've not seen at all in MSFS. For instance, you can load your fuel and passengers completely within FS - no need to reload the plane. It gives you the ZFW and CG, which is nice if you like to use the load and weight charts. It has the ability to grade your flying and I've already become more aware of the bad habits I've developed (leaving landing lights on, not turning on the strobe, for example). You will definitely be more careful with your landings. There are a few bugs that need to be tended to but for a program that came out of the blue, it's pretty incredible. Best of all you can load your plane with passengers and fly anywhere you like, which may not be so realistic but it does keep it fun. It doesn't seem to take much processing power although I would prefer to have it on a second computer if possible. I expect I will use this one on every flight and recommend you at least try the demo. EnjoyDavid

One aspect I like about FSEconomy is it gives me a purpose and destination. I would actually like an optional flight generator in FSPassengers that gave you a couple of choices of where to fly, rather than completely up to your whim. Tony

I don't know about the others, but you must know that FSPassengers has a demo. Try it. To answer your question though, I use it on every flight. Currently, I can't fly without it.

Exactly right. Download the fully functional demo and fly your heart out (in the KSFO area).

I think Im suffering from payware burnout. Im running so much that flying has taken a backseat to clicking the mouse. I also used the fs passenger demo which is supposed to be the latest, greatest must have. Seems there is a new must have every 2 weeks now. As for me, it is pretty neat and gives you some sort of reason to fly and responsibilty. But $40 is a little much. Drop it to $20-$25 and more might bite.

I own FS Pax and FS2Crew.I am using FS Pax currently and uninstalled FS2Crew. Why? Same as stated above. It's just too time consuming. Same thing to say, if I had all day long time for only simming, and money for paper and printer-colors, I would probably use FS2Crew and print myself checklists and all that is needed for flights with it. But for now, I'll keep it stored on my CD and maybe one day install it again.I can't see why I would stop using FS Pax. It doesn't take you extra time, just you have to do things the right way - or should I say, do important things right way! It's definitely very integrated and somewhat expandable and very adjustable, so that's good.

Barry., i use FSHotseat all the time for the traffic sound effects. I find this adds to the overall realism of FS9.Tried FSPax demo but am undecided. I was curious as to why i wasn't penalized for taxiing to fast from the gate.Dan

I'm totally hooked on Fspax, it really adds a new sense of responsibility to your flying, plus it's great to be able to see the stats of your flights. I currently use it for all of my flights with the exception of simple circuit flying. I would highly recommend getting it.I don't own fs2crew but I am eagerly awaiting it's ATR version.Erik

Can someone give me a link to FS Pax? I've searched with Google but (to my amazement) I cannot find it anywhere!

I loved the demo of fspassengers. The only thing I didn't like was the penalty of using accelerated time. Excuse me if I would rather reduce my 8hr cruise into 2hrs.

You can disable that, Neil.In FS9FSPassengersconfig, edit more_option.cfg using Notepad. There's a line in the first option section that says:DisableTimeAccelerationCheck =0;Change the 0 to a 1 and you can use accel time as much as you like.Have fun. :)Ian P.
