Great review from a RW Navajo pilot. Noted you said its not really worth $40 due to other options out there such as A2A . IMO Carenado would get less criticism if they priced their AC according to the amount of work gone into them

Thanks for the review David. Most helpful. If you do another one, could you check the Avionics package please and let us know about bugs in it (there always are and they often carry over from airplane to airplane). I did notice a carry-over from the 404 on the artificial horizon misalignment. That drives me nuts in that airplane but it seems like it's not a big enough deal to Carenado to fix, which is unfortunate, and one of the things that's keeping me from buying this airplane. I agree with yours and others assessment that this airplane (as in most all Carenado products now) is well overpriced. I have numerous A2A machines and you get more than double your money's worth from them for much less than double the price (LOVE the Comanche - have RW time in them, as I do in all their GA machines except for the J3 and wow - those are true simulations!).

 

On the GTN terrain alerts, close FSX and go into your GTN Configuration Panel. In there, there is a Sound Option. I believe this is aircraft specific so choose the aircraft you want to affect. Anyway, turn sound to OFF. Unfortunately you lose ALL sounds associated with the GTN, but yes, that constant screaming of "TERRAIN" at you is annoying. I have to believe there is a mute function on the real thing (I'll ask at work today) but I haven't found it in the F1 version.

OK, had a look at the real GTN 750 and no, there's no pilot adjustable volume or switch for the TAWS in that unit (or the 650). That's done deliberately at the factory to prevent a pilot from turning it off and forgetting it's off, then smucking the side of a mountain (which apparently could generate a lawsuit from the guy that smucked the mountain, even though he was being stupid <_< ). So go into the GTN Configuration Panel for the aircraft in question and just turn off the sound from there. Now, if you smuck the side of a mountain (hill, building, stray goat) in the sim, I won't be held responsible, ok :mad: ? Thank you .

Nice video review and even though not in depth, it certainly sounds like Carenado has, once again, fallen short of expectations.  Based on your video, I'm probably just as well off saving my $38 and continue flying the old FSD Navajo/Panther (FS2004 port over).

I had the FSD bird back in the day. I will say that the Carenado plane beats it in the flight dynamics and graphics departments but that's to be expected since FSD's Navajo is almost 10 years old. The FDS bird was ahead of its time. Engine damage modeling ect. Too bad they didn't keep up to date because if they had they would be the PMDG of General Avation.

Dave, regarding the gtn taws audio, you can disable it in the taws screen of the unit while in the plane.

So the price goes up, while the feature list goes down ? Couple of quick service packs to not fix the issues and then on to the next rushed-out-the-door product, assembling parts from other previously-released substandard aircraft inside a pretty picture.
