July 10, 201510 yr I have an awesome new build (4790K, GTX 970, 500GB SSD, 16GB DDR3, etc...) and I have completed a fresh installation of FSX and add ons including RealityXP rxpGNS430. FSX flies great and I get in excess of 30FPS even at max settings and with Active Sky Next. On ending the flight FSX hangs waiting for some process but after a minute or two goes to the Free Flight screen with no other problem. This also happens when switching back to Free Flight from any other start screen item. I've checked the Windows Event Viewer and it seems that rxpDrop.dll and rxpGnsSim.dll are issues. I have reinstalled the rxp GNS430 completely from the Flight 1 installer but it's still hanging. I have the Window Event Viewer file but I can't figure out how to attach or share it. Any thoughts or help greatly appreciated. July 10, 201510 yr You should download and run AppCrashView. See page 1 of the AVSIM CTD Guide for the link and how to post the results here. There's also a blurb about the Event Viewer on Page 2. To copy an event, you would have the Event open and then look to the right column under Actions and look for Copy. Click on Copy and then copy details as text and then make a new post here and right click the post and select Paste. The event will then appear in your post. The AppCrashView shows more details of a crash but if it is already showing the fault is the rxpDrop.dll and another RealityXP module, then that is the cause of your crash (or AppHang). I think you have a security issue and your computer is not allowing you access to the RXP modules because you did not install the product as the Administrator and/or you had UAC enabled and/or you had an anti-virus program running during the install or while you were running FSX. Microsoft enhanced Windows security but it makes it difficult for your applications to run unless you take necessary actions to install and run the products properly. July 10, 201510 yr Author Jim, Thanks, I downloaded and opened AppCrashView and looked at the events. Doesn't mean much more to me. I did the Copy Details to Text again, and I can paste into a word doc or OneNote but for some reason it won't paste into the AVSIM forum post using right click (paste isn't grayed out but nothing pastes...) or the tool bars. I'm obviously signed in. I'll try reinstalling rxp and I'll turn off Norton while I'm doing it. I just turned off UAC also. I'm not sure how to do it as administrator using the Flight 1 installation wrapper but I'll give it a go. Thanks! July 11, 201510 yr Author Thanks Jim, I disabled UAC, uninstalled RXP then reinstalled as administrator (I run FSX as administrator)and did all that with Norton 360 Smart Firewall and Auto Protect disabled. I then ran FSX with Norton still disabled and the hangs stopped. When I re-enabled Norton it started hanging again. I guess I just have to disable when I fly. Thanks for the help! BTW, BBCode mode isn't intuitive... I probably should have read about that somewhere but thanks for the help. July 11, 201510 yr We will work on the BBCode. It's a tool used in most forums. Apologize for the inconvenience. There's a method to disable your anti-virus program just for FSX or whatever sim you are using and it will remain enabled for everything else. I do not know how to do it as I have never used an anti-virus program. There are several guides from PMDG and even in our guides (FSX Config and CTD Guides) that warn members of the problems that can occur when your anti-virus and/or UAC is enabled during use of FSX or any game. Glad you got your problem resolved. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
