July 12, 201510 yr Hi, even though I fullfill all requirements fo use the Dx10 preview mode, the checkbox isn't showing up within FSX. I run FSX SP2, Win7 64 Home and a GTX770 GPU. So this should be fine. Over the time I applied many tweaks of course, so I guess the problem will be somewhere here. I had ENB installed and deinstalled. Then I had FXAA installed- which now also is deinstalled. I still have Bojotes Shader3 Mod installed. I somehow cannot uninstall it, as soon as I do the FSX aircraft preview screen, and on sim start, the whole screen is plain black. Does anyone know which files FSX is looking for in order to present the Dx10 option? A sim reinstall isn't an option, as this would means nearly a full week of reinstalling, redownloading (with a slow connection), retweaking etc.. Regards, Matthias Regards. Regards, Matthias Probably a remnant enb or fxaa leftover they use modified dirctx files put directly into your game folder. As far as which files i would go back and look at what files are contained in those and remove them by hand from your fsx directory. It would make sense because i believe those are only DX9 so fsx only sees a dx9 capable card Steve McNitt
July 12, 201510 yr Author Thx Steve, I had the same idea. So I removed all the FXAA related files, including the D3D9.dll, D3D8.dll etc.. but so far this doesn't seem to be the answer. Regards. Matthias Hanel MilViz Beta Team
July 13, 201510 yr Well if you want to do it by hand and just go around the problem you could always open your FSX.CFG and under the [Graphics] section change or add the following line: D3D10=1 The only other thing I can think of is that somehow you don't have SP2 installed or if it is, it's messed up. If I recall right that option is only available to SP2 and/or Acceleration. You could try a reinstall on that as well , make sure you answer yes to let it update your FSX.cfg...... Steve McNitt
July 15, 201510 yr Author This doesn't enable the DX10 mode for me- as far as I understand this has to be done first inside FSX..? Regards. Matthias Hanel MilViz Beta Team
July 15, 201510 yr Disregard Does that mean you've found the answer? The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
July 15, 201510 yr Author Does that mean you've found eanswer Unfortunately not. I just posted something wrong. I changed the post above- the entry in the FSX.cfg doesn't enable the DX10 mode for me, it appears as usual in DX9. Regards. Matthias Hanel MilViz Beta Team
July 15, 201510 yr Make a backup copy of your FSX.cfg. Then just delete it and start FSX so it can build a new FSX.cfg. I suspect that even though you got rid of enb it's still referenced in the display section. Mine looks similar to this: [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN.0.0] AntiAlias=1 Mode=3440x1440x32 Anisotropic=1 If you don't see an Nvidia there it's trying to use something else If that works then you can start adding the relevant sections back in from your backup or just keep the new config. If it doesn't work delete the new one it created and put your backup version back in place, no harm done. Steve McNitt
July 15, 201510 yr Do you actually have Acceleration installed? As far as I'm aware it's a 'must have'. SP2 isn't enough. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
July 16, 201510 yr Author Do you actually have Acceleration installed? As far as I'm aware it's a 'must have'. SP2 isn't enough. Nope.. but as far as I know, DX10 also comes with SP2? @Slayer: Will try.. Regards. Matthias Hanel MilViz Beta Team
July 16, 201510 yr Nope.. but as far as I know, DX10 also comes with SP2? Yeah, you're right. Just been to check. I've only ever had FSX Gold which comes with Acceleration. I'll now take my nose out of your business. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
July 16, 201510 yr Does anyone know which files FSX is looking for in order to present the Dx10 option? That's not really an option. You will have to reinstall FSX and SP2 or Acceleration Gerry Howard
July 17, 201510 yr Author Well.. if this is the only solution, I'll take the fixer as a write-off and stick with DX9.. EDIT: Guys, I have the solution! In another forum I asked someone using the fixer to post every DLL in his FSX main directory. I compared them to mine, and one file got my attention: nvwgf2um.dll (which I had, but he did not). I deactivated it, and look- DX10! I can only imagine that the MilViz 732 installed it, as they were fiddling around with some DX11 (sic!) lighting effects in their addon. So solution was: Delete/ deactivate nvwgf2um.dll. Regards. Matthias Hanel MilViz Beta Team
July 18, 201510 yr And they all lived happily ever after. Well done mate. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
