July 15, 201510 yr I found out recently there was an sp1c update for the 777, and also an sp1d update, but I didn't find the file for the sp1c. The operations center said I should re-download the aircraft because it had the sp1d update included. My question is, do these files already have all the previous updates included in them? Should I simply uninstall both the LR and ER and the previous updates and then re-install with the current files and forget about the previous update files? Francisco Perez
July 15, 201510 yr My question is, do these files already have all the previous updates included in them? Yes. SP1D isn't an update, it's a complete new installation. Should I simply uninstall both the LR and ER and the previous updates and then re-install with the current files and forget about the previous update files? Yes. Make sure you run the Operations Center and then exit from it before you uninstall. This will ensure your liveries are backed up. The OC can restore your liveries for you after you have updated your installation.
July 15, 201510 yr I also heard that these updates are minimal and specialty amendments not required by most users?
July 15, 201510 yr So we shouldn't use the repair option when running the installer? I thought PMDG posted that the uninstall of the aircraft was not necessary??
July 15, 201510 yr I also heard that these updates are minimal and specialty amendments not required by most users? Not correct. SP1d was optional for FSX users, required for FSX-SE. SP1c and the update after SP1d were not minimal and fixed a number of issues. Why on earth would you not want the latest version installed? So we shouldn't use the repair option when running the installer? I thought PMDG posted that the uninstall of the aircraft was not necessary?? They did say that and the repair option should still work. I used it for the latest update with no problems. However some people reported problems with that method, so another procedure was posted involving a full uninstall and reinstall. I've no idea what the official recommendation now is but either method should work.
July 16, 201510 yr I've no idea what the official recommendation now is but either method should work. The last I heard is that if REPAIR works then that's good enough. I agree with you advising others to do a full remove/install because a few do have problems and it's frustrating trying to figure out what went wrong. LOL at first I insisted REPAIR is not INSTALL but was corrected and was told in this case is does mean the same (for most). I don't mind being corrected, in fact I'm wrong enough to never have to worry about my ego. Dan Downs KCRP

I agree with you advising others to do a full remove/install because a few do have problems and it's frustrating trying to figure out what went wrong. Whenever I've chosen "Repair" the installation has proceeded very much like a new install. So it doesn't look any different in practice. The most obvious difference is that old redundant files will not be deleted and could possibly cause problems if they are still linked in some way. Old or corrupt panel states for example.
