July 24, 200520 yr Depending on your setup, the fps hit itself from UT is not much. The night lights and there are thousands of them are really the only thing that makes my computer sweat a little. However, like me, most of us already have a half dozen or so other programs loaded and combined with your PMDGs,Level-Ds and other heavyweights all add up.My rig is a custom built with a 3500+ AMD proc, Asus A8v deluxe, 6800gt ultra, all overclocked, system streamlined ect ect.But flying the level d 767 over a big city at night with Active sky pumping out heavy clouds and UT lighting up the ground like it was christmas turns my computer into a expensive portable heater. Nice in the winter though........
July 24, 200520 yr > For me, since I fly low and slow,>the accuracy and features from UT are extremely important, and>the performance has been great. Well you fly low and slow, so that explains the performance being good. For someone that flies in the VC of complicated jets with 100% traffic and sliders maxed, UT will only hurt the frames even more.
July 24, 200520 yr There is no doubt UT is a wonderful product from reading the other posts. The majority have stated there is no frame rate hit but they all have systems in the 3 gigger range and 1 gig ram. Unfortunately for us down in the 2.4 and 2.6 gig range sacrifices are made in the eye candy AI, weather, etc.to keep fps at an acceptable level (For me that is 10 or higher). It is really our problem since we haven't upgraded for one reason or another to a faster machine. If my wife only new the FS add-ons I have purchased I would be in the dog house big time."LOL".The 30 day return policy is inviting and I stil may give it a shot. If there are any folks out their with a P4 2.4 - 2.8ghz, would like to hear about thier experience with UT and even the Beech A36.Thanks,Carl Carl PC AMD Ryzen R7-5700G (8-Core) processor), AMD Radeon RX 6600 Graphics 8GB/ 2TB HD + 500GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, Win11 _____________________________________________________________________________________
July 24, 200520 yr I haven't seen any performance drag at all with UT, with the exception of maybe a slight hit with the night lights. But I turn them off during the day and fly with full autogen, FSGenesis mesh and 100% GA and UT traffic. If anything, I've noticed a definite improvement in large cities, and that's without using residential roads, which will limit autogen. My system is far from the bleeding edge, and there shouldn't be anything in UT that has a big fps hit. But on the other hand I've avoided the PMDG 737 like the plague :-)ToddAMD 64 3000+ (2g)ATI 9500 Pro1G 3200 RAM80G WD Drive
July 24, 200520 yr Ditto. I see no performance change with UT. I may see some drop at night with dense lights, but other than that my FPS are unchanged.
July 24, 200520 yr I have used UT for quite a few months now ( Alaska-Canada) have seen no frame rate hit at all. In fact on my system I feel like I get better frame rates than with some of the default Scenery. This is along with FS Genesis Mesh, Misty Fjords, Alaska Cinematic , all overlapping each other ......I always get a kick out of people that recommend solving problems with their system like poor frame rates, by reinstalling FS9 to solve it. Kind of like having a house that needs cleaning, so you burn it down and build a new one, in my opinion.

No-one on this thread has said that, and backing up my files regularly plus using clean-sweep etc, etc........ regularly, i believe gives my modest system good frame-rates above my expectationsDan
July 24, 200520 yr I had little to no FPS hit with USA Roads.... upgraded to UT and bam. Stutter city. I had to uninstall it and FS9. Like many of the posts above, I'm sure it's a combination deal with [who knows which addon/plane(s)]. So I'm just out the money. (and after the experience, I'm afraid to go back to USA Roads! ...so I'm out double the money! *grin?*)

However our systems are of course different and so many factors come in to play that your case might just be that. However, did you run a chkdsk and defrag after installing UT? There are a TON of files added or changed so maybe that could be it if you did not defrag.I always wonder why posts like the original one here aren't in the producers (Flight One) support forums instead of here at AVSIM. I could see if they didn't have a forum or support via email. Ah well to each there own, mods will move it if they deem fit...
July 25, 200520 yr >I had not noticed anything like that. However our systems are>of course different and so many factors come in to play thatExactly. I don't hold UT solely responsible. But it did cause me to "dumb down" my entire new FS9 install. *grin*>your case might just be that. However, did you run a chkdsk>and defrag after installing UT?
