September 22, 201510 yr Good Lord guys... maybe you've never flown an airplane without the built-in protection of the NG (which you probably trust too much)... but you'd only have to connect a bad gen to your electrical system once to understand why you really don't want to. ;-) I thought flight engineers were a thing of the past.
September 24, 201510 yr Good Lord guys... maybe you've never flown an airplane without the built-in protection of the NG (which you probably trust too much)... but you'd only have to connect a bad gen to your electrical system once to understand why you really don't want to. ;-) On all the turbine equipment I've been trained on (Phemon, CRJ, E145) we left the generators in AUTO all the time, where we should have protection from it connecting a bad source, and the SOPs have us almost obsessively check the electrical synoptic. Also a big deal when connecting a GPU, especially at smaller fields where the GPU might not be up to spec. Joe Sherrill
