REX - do i have to generate textures each time?

Featured Replies

I have fsx for steam and REX. Currently I startup rex first and generate the textures by selecting I just want to fly from the menu, I know this takes a while especially with water textures, however do I have to do this each time?

Many Thanks

Nope, you install a set of textures and those stay active until you choose to install a new set.

REX changes the default textures in the sim's folders for new textures and they stay there until you replace them with new ones.

Cheers!

Maarten

As Maarten say, you only run the texture installer when:

1: You want to change the textures

or

2: You want REX to more closely match the textures with the weather

Normally, if you run `I just want to Fly` it only loads the weather, not weather and weather appropriate textures. That only happens when you select the `weather` drop down, choose the airport and click on `Wx Textures` which links to the texture installer.

many thanks, does that mean i can just launch FSX later without have to launch REX first unless I want to change textures?

Yes. You can change textures anytime without any need to launch FS.

sorry i meant i dont have to launch rex each time after creating the textures just FSX?

Correct.

thanks
