It's good enough if 3.0 goes with DX12

Lots of good points here. I have installed Win 10 on my regular "check the email and surf" computer. I still have Win 7 on the Prepar3d computer and that is how it will stay for some time. We must remember that LM has never made a release that supports Win 10. That is important. I have to say Win 10 seems to be a fairly good release and I think it may be really good once a service pack or two is released. Fairly good release is not what I would want running my business software nor my flight sim.

 

It is easy to get all worked up and excited about Win 10 and the new Prepar3D V3 but progress is never perfect nor pain free. It is funny but when I look back over the last 10 years or so, the most progress for us end users of FSX was made after MS closed down Aces and development. It seemed like the end of our world but as it turned out it gave Dev's breathing room to work and from that came more and better Airplanes, weather programs, and all the DX-10 stuff.

 

I suspect that this V3 release is going to be kind of a wrapping up sort of release that is designed to clean up details and squeeze a bit more out of the "performance box". I also expect things to be slow moving as LM turns it attention to the future. It would not surprise me if Ver. 4 took 2 or 3 years to develop and release.

If those VAS management improvements that have been "hypothetically suggested" are indeed true, then a lengthy wait for version 4 would be a bonus as far as I am concerned, and for exactly the same reasons as when development of Microsoft Flight Simulator ceased.

How odd... everything I read on the web regarding enterprise version states none of that gets removed.

 

The financial firm I worked for over 10 years has about 200,000 employees and I was their VP of Global Technology and Operations overseeing associate readiness and platform deployment. When we made the switch to Windows 7, it was significantly altered to ensure security and information privacy. Enterprise level customers can request features added or removed as their needs are unique enough for MS to justify the extra support. Not saying Windows 10 is an enterprise level platform just yet by design, but if it does make its way there, it will not be the same as the consumer version.
