October 7, 201510 yr Hi I have moved over to FSX and it is my understanding that my Radeon 7900 is not the best card for FSX. Does anyone have any advice about this switch over please? Thanks in advance...............John ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X 12gb GDDR5 (GTXTITANX-12GD5) -1000MHz Clock, 7000MHz Memory - PCI Express 3,0, DVI, MDMI, 3x Display Port Item Code: VCA5003230
October 7, 201510 yr The GTX Titan X is an absolute overkill for FSX or P3D, you are far better off with a 980Ti (or even a 980). As a matter of fact, most custom models of the 980Ti are faster than the Titan X out of the box. So, my advice: no, do not waste your money for a Titan X. October 7, 201510 yr Titan is really a huge waste with fsx, even p3d3 at 4k would have a hard time putting that much card to work. 980ti is much more practical especially if you are planning on p3d in the future. For fsx I would even recommend the 970gtx, better value for money. <p>Dassault Falcon, Lear, Embraer and Challenger and Cessna Mechanic.Broadcasting live from former Soviet Missile Silo.Rhys Legge
October 7, 201510 yr I think a Titan would be sitting there with nothing to do in FSX, the sim runs better with the more clock cycles you throw at it with your processor. I currently use a 770 on my main flight rig and even with that it doesnt have to work that hard. My youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/c/Dkentflyer
October 8, 201510 yr Forget about the Titan indeed. Overkill and waste of money. If you really want 'the best', get the 980 Ti instead. However, it will also probably be overkill. What resolution do you use? I run at 1920x1080 and tested a 980 Ti to replace my 780 (using P3D btw) and it made no difference in performance unless I started using very high end AA in certain circumstances. I returned the 980 Ti to the shop. With FSX your CPU is quite important so what do you use? And what do resolution do you fly at?
October 8, 201510 yr I have the MSI GTX980TI Gaming 6G and I'm very happy with it and it will out perform the Titian X in almost all games. I saw a Benchmark of GTA V with a stock 980TI vs a Titain and the Titain only gained and extra 2-3FPS over the 980TI and the MSI one blows the stock GTX980TI out of the water in benchmarks. So there is little point in spending an extra $400 on a Titain considering I get ruffly the same FPS in Prepar3d with the 980TI that I did with my GTX770. Flight Sims are still CPU limited.
