Hi Everyone. this is a G1000 PFD Menu display that uses the Lua Menu Display. I don't know how practical it is compared to using a mouse but I thought I would give it a try so as to limit mouse function as much as I can in my setup. This is Version 1.0 and it uses standard FSX commands and controls so it should work on any modeled G1000. I just started working with Lua a month ago so anyone interested in providing ideas in concept or Lua scripting, i'm all ears. I am going to try to incorporate the TMR/REF and NRST functions for F1 B200 aircraft into the next revision, that's the F1 product that I am configuring. i may have to add B200 specific Lvars, controls for just this aircraft but i will try to keep it generic if I can. Please test and provide your feedback. enjoy!

I tried creating my own Lua display but in P3D v2.5 after 25 creations of the display P3D hangs. Its a known issue. I would like any feed back if it interferes with other displayed items I do not have.

I added the small Map Zoom-in and Zoom-out under the INSET menu

Let me know if you can't download it. First share using DrobBox

Today I am going to separate the display logic from the display calls. I found I will be able to do more that way. I find using it after a while that it relieves the eye strain and it iprovents loss of focus over using the mouse. I will be able to spend a lot of time on it this week before I have to make it a side project so try to get your ideas to me as soon as possible.

Hi mpc5500, thank you for your addition to LINDA. For my and others can you provide a brief description of what the G1000 is (hardware/software/app) and how it will benefit users?

Sure Scott. This is a menu system that displays within FSX or P3D that allows you to select the keys on the G1000 PFD (Programmable Flight Display) in FSX and P3D equipped aircraft within the simulation. instead of using your mouse to click on the keys, you need a 2 position switch to bring up the menu and move the cursor in the menu displayed up or down (one switch position for move cursor UP and one for Down). You also need a single button to activate the item selected. each activation button press, presses the key on the G1000 and the key is activated. If that key brings up a second or third set of keys the menu will change to bring up that row of softkeys. At the bottom of each menu is a Close Window option.

to use this, open the downloaded Lua file and copy and past the variables at the top into the INIT Vars section of your aircraft action file and the below section past below the Init Vars end command. I have done multiple tests and it work well. Staying in sync with your G1000 PDF. It will not close automatically, you will need to select the close window item on the display but any suggestions to improve this, please reply.

Hope this helps.

Now ver 1.2. Added NRST menu. It allows you scroll through the nearest airport list in the display within the G1000 PFD. Select it and active it and change the FLP. I am working on finding a method to list the airports within the display and sync the curser within the menu. I see that the menu selection is going to be much better in this menu system then using the G1000 aircraft display using a mouse. When I am done this, this menu system works so much better, that I am going to do the Flight Plan entry and modifications next.

Update ver 1.3. Added ADF/DME and FLP menus. FLP entry works great. FLP allows full flight plan entry including procedures. Fixed some issues and changed some menu item names.

I haven't heard from anyone using this. Feedback would greatly appreciated.

1.4 will be posted later today. Updates include Nav and Com input menus. STBY frq is displaced in menu system as adjustments are made. Again much better then using mouse click spots to make changes. I believe the last thing remaining is the BARO knob so if I get to add this today, this project will be complete. I will also make an attempt to simplify the Lua script further as well.

One more not worth adding: I run my display at 2560x1440 on a 27 inch single monitor so if you are at a lower resulution and the menu system is to big, let me know and I will look into font size selection with Scott.

Ladies and Gentlemen, The link at the top of the page is for the latest release ver. 1.5. All functions of the Garmin G1000 PFD have been included in this version. This version should work for any aircraft as no aircraft specific functions were used. (Scot, please change the name of this thread by removing the B200 from the title.) Menu items include COM1, COM2, NAV1, NAV2 and BARO Knob with STBY frqs and baro displayed on screen and reflect your changes. Also there are menus for Flight Plan, DIRECT TO, NRST, ADF/DME, TMR/REF and XPDR. Every feature has been tested on P3D ver 2.5 and should work for all versions and FSX as well. You can now change the menu color from white to red. If you find any issues, please let me know. Please provide your feedback or requests. Enjoy fellow fliers.

Updated!! ver 1.6

If you hit the Menu Item Selection Button while the menu display is off, The menu text will change color the next time it comes up. The defailt color is white, which can be difficult in a cloud layer. You can switch between red and white only.

Thanks guenseli, Let me know if you find it usefull.
