Featured Replies

i don't think 3d lights are not working also the textures do not look that great

I think the information is too limited for anyone to say something useful about it.

Maybe a couple of pictures and a description of the installation procedure and your setup, could be helpful

Cheers!

i found i needed to get an update from the website and i have the lights now thanks.

Still about as helpful as a fart in a spacesuit, but thanks for letting us know.

For the benefit of the rest of us non-abbreviationists I think he/she may have tried to install the old version, not the V3 compatible.

There are NO updates available from their website - only the updated library, which should always be the last port of call for any FTX installation, and which is also updated through FTX Central 2 after a brief glitch last week.

FTX Global was made for and is tonally suited to FSX,  under P3D 2.5 the colours looked totally different either with or without HDR.

Does the adjustable HDR in P3D fix this or do they still looked overexposed relative to FSX.

You need the bespoke version, with suitable libraries but I think the majority of the core textures are identical.

Clearly a question of perception as I find the GEX colour pallette to be unrepresentative of anything I've ever seen in the real world from the cockpit of a plane.

I think everything looks wonderful and far better in P3D but I already thought that with v2... Must be personal. On my PC absolutely nothing looks washed out or overexposed. Anyway, you can indeed change a LOT with the HDR settings now.

FSS is NOT the ORBX/FTX website. It's a commercial vendor, unrelated to the developer except by commercial contract. You can apologise now.

I agree with your observation with GEX.

The colours are not even close especially in Europe.

Said as much back in the day and was told by Nick needham that I needed to buy a $400 calibration tool for my monitor as he had mastered the textures on a "high end" professional monitor and they obviously would not look right on my low end monitor until it was calibrated, Deleted GEX at that point and never gave him a penny since.

Fact remains that the colouration of the FTX Global textures was never reworked when they were ported over to P3D  and look entirely different under P3D's lighting, much worse in my view but still light years better than GEX, does the HDR adjustability help any to bring them back to how they looked in FSX ?

Single line posts don't help anyone. Least of all you. Provide a detailed description of what you DID do, so someone can help you by telling you what you DIDN'T.

FTX Global are only textures, but it's a mullti-stage installation involving a correct V3 installer, pointing the installer to the right folder, making sure that you Apply the new textures using FTX Central V2, and finally installing the correct scenery library files for P3D v3. And you did backup the originals first, right ?

So provide the information, and we may be able to deduce what you did wrong. Don't forget system specs either.

While we wait, I'll just nip outside and crush some rocks for hemoglobin   :Cuppa:
