Asking me to activiate the base package first

Featured Replies

I've been flkying the PMDG 777 300 for a while now...suddenly its not asking me to activiate te PMDG 777-200 R/F Base package is not activated yet. Please select and activate....

IS there some service that needs to be running? To improve my performance I used the System configuration option to shut down all non Windows services... thats the only change I made.

Any ideas?

In any case how do I simply reactivate my 777f?

I loaded up the 737 and it too wants me to activate..at least it asked me to enter the activation key (the window appears) but does not accept my activation key that I entered

There is a service called "FlexNet" (or similar) that MUST run in order for recent products from PMDG (The NGX and 777) to load in the activated state. Most likely you disabled this service, not realizing what it is for...

Hmm.. thank you..

I had a restore point from yesterday.. I restored my system and I think it now works..

Let me look for that service and see if I can exempt that

Thanks Jim

I see FlexnetLicensing in my services (after the restore) but its status is "stopped
.

That is unnecessary. If you looked at the resources that most services require you'd find all of them combined is less than 1% of your CPU. Most objects lay in quiet until needed for specific purposes.

It may be set for manual start, i.e. it would only start when you actually load a PMDG aircraft. As long as it is not set to "disabled", you should be OK.

As Dan said, you should be very careful when disabling services - some (like FlexNet) may not seem obviously needed for core Windows functions, but may never less be very necessary for other installed programs to run.
