Prepar3D Settings

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I am struggling to get my install of P3D V3 to run smoothly. Would you guys be able to give me some settings to try out?

SPECS:

CPU: Intel 4790K

GPU: GTX 970

RAM: 1866mHz GB

Thanks in advance

Need more info. Do you have any add ons? What are your current settings?  Your specs should run P3DV3 smooth. Give just a little more info so someone with better knowledge than I have can help you.

Regards

Lamar Wright

Your hardware is more than capable of running P3D 3.0.    I have a 3930k and GTX 980 and can run this beast with pretty high settings and have a comfortable ride for hours.

Have you tampered with the Prepar3D.cfg file yet?    What is the clock speed of your CPU?   Are you using SSD or HDD drives for your simulator?   What's your OS?   More info needed.

Hi LachieS,

I have pretty much the same system as you

I7 4790K - OC to 4.7 GHz with HT off

970 GTX (stock and no NI changes)

16 GB Ram at 1600

Here are my add-ons that I use

ASN (over network)

MyTraffic 6

Traffic Optimizer (set to 50 planes)

REX 4 w/soft clouds

ORBX PNW

A2A Commanche and 172

In sim settings:

Settings Graphics:

FXAA- on

MSAA - 4 samples

Anistropic - 16x

Texture - 2048x2048

Vsync - off

Target Frame Rate - 33

Scenery

LOD - Max

Tessellation - High

Mesh - 5m

Texture - 15cm

Water - High

Reflections - All except Clouds (don't like the look)

Scenery Complexity - Extremely Dense

Autogen Vegetation - Very Dense

Autogen Building - Very Dense

Special Effects - Medium/Medium

Lighting

HDR, landing lights and Lens flare all checked

Shadows Quality - Medium

Terrain Shadow - 30,000m

Cloud Shadow - 30,000m

Object Shadow - 6000m

All object shadows checked

Weather

Cloud Draw - 90mi

Density - Max

Volumetric fog checked

Detailed clouds

Traffic

Airline - 20

GA - 40

Airport Vehicle - None

Road - 0

Ships - 30

Liesure boats - 30

With these settings I get fluid and detailed textures at the 33fps everywhere except Seattle where I get low to mid 20's near the heavy areas and backup to locked rate when I get a little distance.

Hope this helps you in your tweaking etc

TWEAKING!!!!! P3D v3 needs NO tweaking!!!!! Why do you need to tweak with the fps you have?

Jack,

I think you misread the post, the OP was having difficulty getting his to run smoothly so I just responded with what my settings were since I had nearly an identical system.  I did this to help him getting a starting point.

Kind Regards,

Brett

Sorry BrettT, please accept my sincere excuse. Sometimes my fingers are faster than the brain!  :fool:

that ram looks slow for 4.7ghz, hope you oc'd that ram higher than 1600.

I am running at 4790K 4.84Ghz water cooled and ram is about 2800 to 3000. Any slower ram and I soon get blue screen.

Also check your textures to ensure back to 1024K all around then walk your way up, textures often missed when dealing with low fps.

Process Laso is must have for too many reasons, turn off core parking, move some stuff of p3d cores,  set p3d priority, io priority and memory priority higher than default.

Your hardware seems ok, maybe tool like laso can you unlock the power.

Get laso gat faster ram, get fps and fly smooth.
