Which is harder on frames, PMDG 737NG, or 747?

Featured Replies

Wouldn't want anything harder on performance than the 737NG, which barely makes it for me (but I have fairly high standards when it comes to smoothness and adequate frame rate).Much appreciate your insights, and will buy based on what info is shared. Thanks!Noel

You should get better fps from the 747, im very happy with how it performes on my pc, everything is very smooth, no stutters.I only fly using the VC in 0.5 zoom and have my fps locked at 30, and it pretty much stays there when airborne.OHN

That's quit a rig you have there Noel.I'm surprised your having problems with the NG.I have "modest" system by todays standard yet still able fly without any issues. The only thing is I don't use the VC as it is terrible on FPS.3.06 533 FSB1.50 Gig RamX800PROWD 120 Gig HD 8Mb cache

my FX-55 even struggles with complicated VCs. On heavily populated airports with 100% traffic I get low FPS, even with the 747. It is the price I pay though to have all that traffic. But to answer your question, the 747 gets much better frames than the 737. I hope they address the memory issues some people such as myself are having though, as I cannot complete a flight without a crash or out of memory error.

The 737 is much better on frames for me. With the 747, I get about 3-18 FPS, and with 737 it doesn't drop below 24 unless at a high density airport.Jeff

Noel,I have a 3200 athlon, 1 gig ram and 9800 pro graphics.I get good frame rates with both 737 & 747 (18-23 locked @ 25). But when I'm on the ground I get quite bad stutters with the 747.There are a number of users with this issue, so I'm sure it will be fixed. As far as the CTD and out of memory errors, there is already an interim patch to solve these.Go on... Treat yourself... Buy it!Stuart.

Oh my god.Geforce 6800GT......I'm still using Geforce4 mx440,the fps in PMDG737 is about 10~15,and in 747 will never up to 10.

actually the interm patch only makes the CTD and memory errors happen more often

Well, I don't think I described any problems. I am just accustomed to flying models that really have no hit on performance, so the NG is the most complex is all. I like being able to land at major terminals in foul weather and have virtually no impact on frames. Piper Meridian, SkyDecks Panel Design CRJ-200 (crude but pleasant), plus I have Reality XPs radar weather module and a TCAS for this small commuter jet. By the way, I have the same processor as you, but it runs no prob at 3.5Ghz. That processor came with one of two possible HSF's, and I got the good one! I have never tried for more, and I run it at just a fuzz over stock voltage. Cheers

Hope this may help some guys who are flying the 737/747 PMDG withmiddle of the road comps.. and having unacceptable FPS Disable Aircraft Shadows in FS9 Disable clouds - ie fly in 'clear, Turn off all A1 traffic(these tips came from TM Metzinger's tutorial on the 737.Yes there is some sacrifice here but be assured it is worth it to get these wonderful planes flying properlyHugh.J.E
