November 23, 201510 yr Hi all I cannot complete a flight any more as I keep getting the following error: Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb14 Faulting module name: MSVCR80.dll, version: 8.0.50727.9185, time stamp: 0x554aef01 Exception code: 0xc000000d Fault offset: 0x00008aa0 Faulting process ID: 0x1270 Faulting application start time: 0x01d125b42006da2e Faulting application path: H:\FSX\fsx.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_microsoft.vc80.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.9185_none_d0905a48442809b8\MSVCR80.dll Report ID: 70d4c948-d12c-4028-8d0d-67f378a706dd Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: I am pulling my hair out. It is driving me nuts, I cannot complete a flight. I am running Windows 10, 64 bit. Many thanks for any help. John
November 23, 201510 yr I've taken this extract from Avsim CTD Guide for your guidance: "MSVCR80.dll, MSVCR90.dll, or MSVCR100 – belongs to Microsoft Visual Redistributable C++ 2005, 2008, 2010 respectfully. 1. Run the Microsoft.net Repair Tool – Whenever you get a Microsoft.net error or Microsoft Visual C++ error (faulting module), run the Microsoft.net repair tool. 2. Uninstall FSX SP2 if installed, uninstall it via the Windows Add/Remove program (it will not remove FSX, just SP2). Restart your system. Reinstall FSX SP2. Restart your system. 3. Uninstall FSX Acceleration if installed, do the same procedure as for SP2 except remove Acceleration, Restart, install Acceleration, Restart. These actions will not remove your configuration files like FSX.cfg, scenery.cfg, dll.xml, exe.xml but if you want to be safe, back them up first. 4. If the above does not work, uninstall Microsoft Visual 2005, 2008, or 2010, as appropriate in your Add/Remove Programs. Go to the website (see section above regarding Microsoft Visuals), download and reinstall."
November 24, 201510 yr I'm unsure about point #2 in the CTD extract I gave. I've always thought that to remove FSX SP2 via the Add/Remove Programs, meant that FSX would be uninstalled completely. So be mindful of that. Chris
November 24, 201510 yr When you uninstall FSX, the latest SP will be removed and the entry in the Add/Remove Programs will change. Before placing it in the AVSIM CTD Guide, I did what the guide states. It's impossible to completely uninstall FSX via the Add/Remove Programs feature. After there are no more entries in the Add/Remove Programs, you still have to go into the directories (including the hidden directories) to remove remnants of FSX that could harm future installations (i.e., uninstalling from the default fsx directories and reinstalling to non-default areas). I might also add the CTD Guide provides the links to the Microsoft Repair site. I actually had one of these crashes myself once and this fixed the problem for me. Of course, there are so many possibilities for an error like this but our guide is based on research throughout the flight simulation community. We believe we have the most extensive information available to fix CTD's/Freezes throughout the community with the AVSIM CTD Forum and the CTD Guide. November 24, 201510 yr Only time I have encountered this Error has been when a "bad" .bgl file has been encountered with Photo Scenery. No matter how many times the flight is reset (back by 1 min) and re-flown the error will occur at the same point. I have to reset (back by 3 mins) and change the course by many degrees (45) and skirt the area. Then the flight will continue without incident. The Horizon UK scenery has four such areas that I have encountered....there may be others. Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
November 25, 201510 yr "It's impossible to completely uninstall FSX via the Add/Remove Programs feature". Good to know if I ever need to use it.....Thanks. Chris
