November 26, 201510 yr I am current playing on a 30" monitor at 2560x1600. My machine specs are as follows: Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate 16GB RAM i7-3770k overclocked to 4.5GHz EVGA NVIDIA GTX 680 FTW+ (4GB RAM) I am getting decent frame rates that average around 25-30 and dips to 10 or below when flying through heavy clouds. I am thinking about purchasing a 4k TV, maybe 50 inch to use this as my replacement for gaming. I've never seen how games will look on this kind of setup and I'm curious to know if anyone here has this kind of setup and could tell me more about it. Will my system be able to handle it? I will be using it on my computer desk like a monitor, so it will be about 17-20 inches away from me. November 26, 201510 yr Aaron, let's get one thing perfectly clear from the start. One does not 'play' with P3D :p0502: Seriously, going from a 30 inch to a 40 inch 4K was a MA-HASSIVE improvement for me. It really is amazing how much of a difference it makes. With a 4GB card, I had no issues, but I'm running a 970 GTX 4GB. I can't speak for the 680 and I'm sure others will comment more technically on the card specs. But prepare yourself for one of the biggest immersive upgrades you can make. Sitting in the PMDG 777 or 737 at night at a large airport while taxiing, is just an amazingly awesome experience
November 27, 201510 yr Author What 40 inch 4k TV did you get or was it a monitor? I plan on getting a 50" 4K TV for P3D. But that may be a bit too big when I'm going to be sitting right in front of it. Might not be good for my eyes either. November 27, 201510 yr There are quite a few people here that use 50 inch TV's. I'm planning to get one myself. I currently have the Phillips BDM4065UC 40' 4K monitor
November 27, 201510 yr Commercial Member 50" is fine even up close. Mine is about 2-3 feet away. I might be wrong but I didn't think a 680 would support 4k 60hz full colour 444 over its hdmi port.
