AI questions

Featured Replies

Hi everyone I am using world of AI to add traffic to my fsx world.  there are a lot of packages there that are quite old and wondered if the Alpha India group AI releases can also be used at the same time?

Is it a case of using one system or another?  If I can use the Alpha India group AI at the samer time how do you go about it in FSX?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Barra

Hi Barra,

You can have as many AI programs as you wish as long as the *.bgl traffic files are in the same format (e.g. FSX).

On a very basic level, you download the Alpha India traffic file and extract the repaints.txt file.  It tells you what aircraft and repaints that you need to download and from where.

You install the aircraft and repaints in a folder within your SimObjects directory, make sure that FSX.CFG has a reference to that folder.

Open the *zip file that you downloaded in AIFP (no need to unzip it), verify that you have the correct aircraft, etc.  Compile the traffic file and copy it to the Scenery\World\Scenery directory and fly.

In fact you can even install the repaints though AIFP, but I would have to reread that section since I haven't done it in awhile.

It isn't all that difficult, but it is a bit time consuming and you'll need to do at least some casual reading of the AIFP manual.

I would recommend, if you're interested start by downloading AI Flight Planner and installing it and browse at the manual.

Also select a traffic file, unzip it and see if you can locate the aircraft, which are mostly on AVSIM or Flightsim.com and the repaints.

Once there come back here for guidance if you need it.

Someone may have a more straightforward process and hopefully they'll jump in if they do.
