  1. I would normally agree but this one i am a little disappointed with. I have about 7 or 8 of their sceneries but this one is pretty poor imo…. My default Orbx one is just as good. i will be more cautious about their sceneries next time after this one.
  2. But then you get no step climbs at all. Its just they seem to have gone totally nuts in the plans it is producing at the moment. I am also aware that the FMC will tell me when the optimum time is to step climb but PFPX was always pretty close until recently. In PFPX I generally set the "step climb" value to "0" and I never have this issue. Cheers Tim Carter
  3. Thanks for the reply Romain, if you need to close or remove the post Kyle i understand. i just wanted to know if other PMDG users were seeing the same. regards Tim Carter
  4. Hi Everyone Love the PMDG B777 but recently having problems with the planning side in PFPX. Since the last update of PFPX I am having issues with the flight plan asking for weird climbs and descents in the middle of the route. I have checked and there is no route restrictions yet PFPX is sometimes commanding a 6000 foot descent and less than 100 miles later commanding a climb back to the original level. Does anyone else see this behavior? Got to say I do not like these min cost, min fuel, min time options as there does not seem to be any explanation of what these calculations are predicated on and I am not convinced some of these errors are in some way caused by this. Can anyone else comment on the likely causes. Regards Tim Carter
  5. Thank you Donstim I downloaded the latest FSUIPC and installed and the problem has rectified itself. Cheers
  6. Hi Everyone I have had Saitek controllers for a number of years but suddenly the FSX commands seem to have been corrupted. I have tried to reset them but no luck. I go into the controllers section in fsx and note that it lists my Saitek Yoke and change to advanced controls and save - yet when I go back in to the commands it has reverted to simple controls again. I use fsuipc and fly mainly the PMDG B77W. I only had the throttles assigned in fsx and everything else was calibrated through FSUIPC. The whole thing seems to have corrupted and no idea why. Any ideas what I can do to get it working again?
  7. Hi Everyone Some months ago my operating system crashed requiring a total reinstall of everything including my fsx and all the add ons including the B777. What I did notice at the time of installation was a loss of textures in the camera view on the MFD. I never really worried about fixing the problem until now. Does anyone have any advice on what is likely causing the problem and how to fix it? Its not a deal breaker, just annoying - and happens with all my add on liveries. Cheers Bluey
  8. Hi I was the original poster of the thread mentioned above by Michael. A number of things have happened since that post including a corruption for some reason of Windows 7 requiring a total format and reinstall. Once FSX was reinstalled i downloaded the latest PMDG B777 installers and installed fresh. Guess what, i no longer see the behaviour reported. It may be worth uninstalling the B777 and reinstalling with the latest installers rather than updates. I knew something screwy was going on and a reinstall of FSX and the B777 seems to have sorted it. I would recommend you try a reinstall of just the B777 first rather than a full fsx reinstall as that is a pretty drastic action. Hope this helps and good luck. Tim Carter AKA Barra
  9. Hi everyone I am using world of AI to add traffic to my fsx world. there are a lot of packages there that are quite old and wondered if the Alpha India group AI releases can also be used at the same time? Is it a case of using one system or another? If I can use the Alpha India group AI at the samer time how do you go about it in FSX? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Barra
  10. Sounds like a definite for KIAD then. Thanks for the advice everyone.
  11. Thanks Hamoody for your advice. Anyone else care to chip in?
  12. Hi Everyone I am looking to purchase another USA based heavy metal airport in FSX and have narrowed it down to Flightbeams KIAD or FSDT KORD. I already run KJFK, KLAX, KMIA and KDFW. I was looking for informed opinions of which one was better (I will be using PMDG B737 and B777). Any opinions will be well received. Many thanks Barra
  13. Hi Dan Thanks for your comments. I have the full flightplan log here. How would I go about posting it here? Can I post jpegs of each page? It has all the data you mention. Must admit I hadn't thought of doing a flight no wx and seeing if the problem is still present. I wonder how long the flight would be to be a valid test. Just checked my versions and they are definitely up to date. Sincerely Tim Carter
  14. Hi Dan and Kyle I noticed you have failed to address my situation as the thread starter and concentrated on Michaels issue. Am I to assume you simply don't have an answer to my particular issue with the fmc predictions at this time? I have now gone to some lengths to give quite detailed information about flight times both forecast and actual, expected fuel over destination figures at pushback, take off, top of climb, top of descent and landing, winds, temperatures. The list goes on. None of these things account for the issue I am seeing in the software. If you want to PM me with your email address I can photograph the full flight log with all the details entered for every waypoint throughout the flight if it makes it easier for you to see that I am describing a real issue. It may not be the end of the world stuff, but it is there, If you cant explain the issue that's fine but please do not simply put your head in the sand and say it isn't so. I have also not played with fuel bias in the planning software and yet the problem appears to have only started recently. Sincerely Tim Carter
  15. Hi Dan My problem is a little different in that I am landing with less fuel than originally predicted. I did a flight OTHH-VTBS yesterday in the B77W and kept a detailed log of Altitude, Wind Speed and direction estimated fuel at destination etc. Prior to Taxi my landing estimated fuel was 14,600Kg. On Take Off it was 14,000kg. At top of climb the estimate on landing was 13,600kg. My PFPX flight plan estimated a landing fuel of 12,200kg. I logged ever waypoint and watched the predicted fuel at destination roll down at the 400Kg/hr mentioned until at top of descent my estimated fuel on landing was 12000kg. By the time I landed and the STAR was pretty direct. I landed with 10,400kg. The flight time was 2 minutes longer than expected at 6hr 02min. Temperature and wind speeds and direction all very close to the flight plan forecast. Can photograph the log sector by sector if it helps. This is the problem I am facing. It was never a problem until recently and don't know the cause or solution. Regards Tim Carter
  16. Copping stick is an Australian term for getting some criticism Michael. Cheers Tim
  17. Sorry you copped some stick Michael. I think something is definitely wrong. Currently doing another flight and logging all the info. Cheers Tim Carter
  18. Dan As an example I flew the B77F from YPPH - WMKK (2300nm) yesterday basically to confirm nothing was screwy with the SAT which I had not made a point of checking too hard in the past. Conditions were basically ISA+10 most of the way and a little cooler than the ISA+13 conditions expected. Flight plan had my initial cruise at FL340 stepping to FL360 up to TOD and a CI of 70 giving a cruise around Mach 0.83. I believe I have a reasonable grip on flight planning having done my ATPL including high altitude flight planning here in Australia in the early 1990's. My PFPX flightplan had an estimated landing fuel of 13,200kg. This included 30min holding and diversion fuel to WSSS 181nm away. While I didn't pay a heap of attention to my predicted landing fuel in the fmc on taxi out, I did note my predicted landing fuel at my top of climb at around 14100kg. Also taking careful note of my wind speed and direction during the flight at the waypoints and they were very accurate - as I have stated before. Within 10 degrees of forecast and with 3kt in terms of speed. On arrival over WMKK my fuel on board was 12200kg, consistent with the 400kg/hr reduction I am reporting here. My fuel on landing was less than 12200 as the star I was on overflew the airports and vectored downwind for an ils approach. My arrival time at WMKK was 0634GMT and arrived overhead at 0632GMT. There is no fixation of my fuel remaining except that until recently fuel over destination generally remained very stable throughout the flight unless major deviations in wind speed or direction were encountered and this is simply not the case now. There appears to be a 400kg/hr reduction in fuel on arrival or increased fuel flow if you like that I cannot account for. It was not a problem before and now it is. Any additional comments? Sincerely Tim Carter
  19. Hi Michael Thanks for your info. I did in the past make a little fuel, that is arrive with a little more than predicted but generally never much more than 1000kg even on long flights. I did another flight today just to check that the SAT wasn't way above what had been predicted and it was not. In fact it was a little cooler than was forecast. I am at a loss what is causing the issue as I have not had any issues until recently. If it was a simple case of more wind than expected then the eta would have changed as well which was not the case. I also checked planned winds against the waypoint predictions and in nearly all cases the wind was within 10 degrees of what was expected and within 2 or 3kt in terms of speed. Neither of these factors would explain a decrease in fuel over the destination without an increase in the expected time over the destination. Something really screwy is going on here. The only thing that I can think of is that I updated ASN recently, however my SAT, predicted wind direction and speed all correlate very closely with the PFPX flight plan and ASN within the sim. Would love to hear from the developer in regard to this problem we are experiencing. Regards Tim Carter
  20. Hi everyone, I have recently noticed a problem that seems to have only just started to happen with the FMC fuel at destination prediction. After reaching my cruising altitude, the predicted fuel at my destination drops by about 400kg/hr over the course of the flight despite the winds being as expected and the arrival time remaining unchanged. Is anyone else seeing this? I am using PFPX for planning and ASN for weather injection and the two seem to match up pretty well. Usually I even made just a little fuel but now this 400kg/hr roll back is a real pain. Any ideas? Cheers Tim Carter
  21. Think FT had better fix their CYYZ before I would even consider any other product. If you can't fly heavy metal in there at reasonable setting, what's the point?
  22. Same here, obviously a small bug in the system. This was from a NGX Short panel configuration. Regards Tim carter
  23. Thank you Mark for the explanation. Will try it on approach and see if it is closer to the horizon.
  24. Hi Everyone I have asked this before and had no success getting a solution but the horizon line on my hud is several degrees above the actual horizon. It really bugs me and I don't use the HUD and its features because of it which seems crazy. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tim Carter
  25. Thank you all for your help. Tim
