KORD or KIAD Scenery

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

I am looking to purchase another USA based heavy metal airport in FSX and have narrowed it down to Flightbeams KIAD or FSDT KORD.

I already run KJFK, KLAX, KMIA and KDFW.

I was looking for informed opinions of which one was better (I will be using PMDG B737 and B777).

Any opinions will be well received.

Many thanks

KIAD by flightbeam is much better. It runs much smoother, has features such as terminal interiors, and is completely up to date. FSDT's O'Hare is an ok scenery (and in fact I fly into it more than KIAD), but the performance isn't amazing and the runway/taxiway layout if out of date. You won't be disappointed by Dulles. If I were you I'd wait to buy it though as I think it usually goes on sale around Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Thanks Hamoody for your advice.

Anyone else care to chip in?

Try KIAD. As Hamoody stated above, KORD is a bit outdated and need a bit more love from FSDT first.

But why don't you just download the demo from their page and test it by yourself?

FSDT will get around to updating KORD eventually. KIAD won't see many changes between now and then, so it's a safer bet that runs smoothly.

Sounds like a definite for KIAD then.  Thanks for the advice everyone.

I would agree that Flightbeam KIAD has the edge over FSDT KORD in terms of performance and being up to date, although personally I do don't have much need for terminal interiors to be modelled. At the moment however FSDT have a sale on and, although KORD is one of their older products, it is still pretty impressive, so if you are lucky and Flightbeam also run a sale, you might be able to pick up both!

FSDT is having a sale now... until 29.11.2015...

FlightBeam also started a sale.

Just downloaded KIAD today and was exploring with an EZCA world cam.  Look who I found in the control tower!

Just for fun, I used the Windows 10 Game DVR to take a screen shot of Bruce up in the KIAD tower.  That DVR works pretty good! I can see taking a lot more screen shots!
