December 1, 201510 yr I actually just picked up a new computer at Costco with Windows 10, it was such a good deal that I couldn't resist. I was thinking about installing Windows 7 since bought a license years ago that I no longer use, any thoughts? I would think that it would work fine but you never know these days. I did try the Windows 10 upgrade a few months ago and I had the same problems with crashes, etc. so not sure I want to go down that path again. December 1, 201510 yr Windows 10 has a lot more security built into it than does Windows 7. Still FSX should run just as well on Windows 10. There are a lot of reasons for these types of crashes. The error you are receiving indicates a bad installation of FSX Deluxe. Did you also install SP1 and SP2 OR Acceleration? Acceleration installs SP1 and is the payware version of SP2 so you cannot install both. When you installed FSX (and any SP or Acceleration), did you right click the installer and click on Run as Administrator? If you did, then you might need to go to the main FSX folder and make sure FSX always starts up as the Administrator. In Windows 10, open Windows Explorer (the directory for all of your files). Go to the main FSX folder and look for FSX.exe. Right click on FSX.exe and select Properties. Then click on the Compatibility tab and look near the bottom and make sure there is a check mark stating something like Run this Application with Administrative Privileges for ALL USERS (not just you). FSX will now start up every time with Admin Privileges. When you installed FSX, did you disable UAC - http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-turn-off-and-disable-uac-in-windows-10/? Any anti-virus program should have been disabled to scan FSX while the program is running too. Here's a guide for uninstalling/installing FSX - http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.aspx. If you continue to have problems, check out the AVSIM CTD Guide (see link in my signature). The best solution for all crashes is to move our fsx.cfg and scenery.cfg to a temporary folder, restart FSX and let these files be rebuilt back to the default settings. If this fixes the problem, then you might have put a tweak in your fsx.cfg that is not properly employed or does not work for your system. It also might indicate your settings were set too high. In the graphics section of the FSX.cfg, make sure you have entered the following fix: highmemfix=1. Hope this helps. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 2, 201510 yr The cause of the crash was the jf_a320.gau. According to our reviewer of the A320 - http://www.avsim.com/pages/1210/JustFlight/A320.html (look under Custom MCDU), you need to go to their website and download a patch. December 2, 201510 yr Author Thanks Jim, but I think I'm gonna do a complete clean of the game and reinstall as you suggested. Right now I have it in Programs files 86, I'm thinking that this may be my problem. Will let you know how I make out. Thanks again Robert
December 2, 201510 yr Author Hey Jim Deleted all files. Issue I'm having now is that when I try and reinstall game, it goes to the repair section, not the install section. Any suggestions??? Robert
December 2, 201510 yr FSX is still on your computer even though you used the Add/Remove Programs and uninstalled FSX. FSX is located in hidden folders too and you have to remove it from the system registry. If you had Acceleration installed too, when you uninstalled FSX, you actually only uninstalled Acceleration or SP2. The basic FSX is still installed and an entry in the Add/Remove Programs still remains. So, when you run the FSX installer, it is only telling you the program is still installed and ask you to repair. The following link provides information on how to uninstall/reinstall FSX - http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.aspx The reason for the crash was the gauge from an addon. Don't understand why you are reinstalling FSX but hopefully the link I provided helps. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 2, 201510 yr Author It wasn't just this plane that was giving errors. Every time I would load a flight at some point the game would crash. This is why I decided to reinstall. I think my main problem is that I have it installed in the programs 86 folder.
December 2, 201510 yr Author Just about ready to give up. Now I am getting an error message saying; Error number:0x80040702 Failed to load GameuxinstallHelper

December 2, 201510 yr I did my previous install using FSX + Acceleration. The one i will be doing on the new computer will be FSX Steam Edition. I am not sure if these problems exist in the Steam platform, but i did read some posts elsewhere that people were having issues in SE with Windows 10 as well. At the end of the day, I will try the install anyway to see how it goes in Wiondows 10, but will likely switch to Windows 7 if i get crashes. One more thing, and let me know if I am crazy, but I dont have the option to open FSX:SE as administrator. I assume this is because it is related to Steam. I have the same issue with X-Plane SE as well. Am I perhaps missing something here? Cheers, Pete To make sure FSX-SE opens with Admin Privileges every time, you have to go to the main FSX-SE directory and right click on FSX.exe or whatever program is used to open up FSX-SE (fsx-se.exe?). Right click on the file and select properties. Once open, click on the compatibility tab and look all the way down and make sure there is a check mark for always opening this program with admin privileges for ALL USERS.
