Ok so having gotten Turbine Duke V2 and completing a few flights with it I can honestly say that it is a very nice and realistic plane. Realair did a good job on modelling it and I can see why it has gotten such good feedback. I like how the engine temps must be properly monitored or else they fail; it gives you added responsibility and realism. This is something that needs to come standard on all FS addon planes. Hopefully Realair models another good aircraft soon.

Oh. Thanks for the explanation. The lack of support for a networked configuration is a non issue for me but I didn't even think about the wider support for P3D which I don't have now but wouldn't want to have to repurchase ASN if later on P3D becomes the "it simulator".

I have Fsx Steam and have been considering to buy Activesky Next. Would it be better to just get it from the steam store where it also seems to be cheaper or should get it from the official re-seller - Simmarket? After all, they are both the exact same thing - right?

My Sidewinder 2 joystick was causing the sound device to shift to default primary device from speakers (Realtek HD) everytime it gets disconnected (which happens every time I restart Windows 10). This caused the soundto eventually cutoff. After a couple week thinking that this solved the issue, It happened again with it set to speakers so now I am clueless as to what is going on. I notice that there is plenty background noise and clipping and the sound eventually just cuts out and unable to return no matter what I do. I honestly believe that dovetail has done something that messes up the sound in FSX as this issue has never happened to me in all my years of using the regular version. I have seen other complain about the sound issues like this in their FSX SE as well.

Thanks for the replies guys. This has to be the most loved plane for the Flight Sim community. Looking forward to getting the new one after doing a few flights with V1 again.

Hey Simmers. I recently got back into Realair's piston Duke (V2) and I must say that it's a nicely simulated aircraft; I appreciate the work they have put into it as well as it's fast speed. However, I do notice that the Turbine Duke is way more popular. There are more reviews and discussions on forums. I have the first version which I used a few times a few years ago on my last system. Is version 2 of the Turbine definitely worth upgrading to? And what else would I fly to rival its speed when im duked out - A Pilatus or King Air? . Don't think I can go back to anything to much slower after jumping back in this lol.

The "Q" keys does nothing when it happens. I'm watching it once again to see if it comes back. I'm ensuring that my sound settings in Fsx is set to speakers before each flight.

Hey guys, I don't know whats wrong but since I bought and installed FSX-SE I have been having an issue whereby the sound would just cutoff mid flight and no matter what, it fails to return. I would have to exit the sim. It doesn't happen in every flight and it certainly is frustrating. I have used Steam's verify integrity function and I have re-installed my sound card drivers. I am getting to the point where I just want to put this simulator down for good.

So technically you're not using anything lol. Anyway guys thanks for the reponses but I now have working copy of FSXSE which I got during the Black Friday Steam sale and its working fine. The one before wasn't the right one. I also tried P3d v3 but there was a bug with my joystick so I didn't bother with it anymore.

There are FSX add ons that wont work with it? I thought once the registry entry was fine everything should install and work since its essentially the same simulator with some programming fixes

I didnt have this problem with FSX and Windows 10. Go into event viewer then application log and find the error related to FSX and paste it here so we can gather more insight

Good to know everyone is ok with it too. The graphics seem slighly better and its smoother than regular FSX.

Hey FS junkies, I recently got back into FSX but I was using the older box edition and so this weekend I decided to get FSX steam during the sale. So far so good - been doing GA flying with a2a planes mostly and plan to fly slighly faster planes like the caravan and piston twins. Just wanted to know how your experiences has been with it so far and what kind of aircrafts/flights have you been flying and going on.

Very nice screenshots. I've been flying GA and you make me want to fly my Airbus again.

I got P3d v3 to try it out and I do like the lighting and effects. However, I seem to be stuck with the default planes as there are not much V3 planes out there as yet. I would want to install my Carenado Caravan for example (the first one) but it only installed to FSX as the installer did not ask which simulator.

I got the steam edition but it failed to start. Idk why. So i plan to just reinstall my old version and manually retweak it. Im going to have to give the new version of prepar3d more time because i need my Aerosoft Airbus and other addons such as Orbx sceneries and a2a planes.

Hey guys. Just coming back from almost a year off. Hope all has been good. Anyway, I had to do a reinstallation of Windows and I plan to now reinstall my FSX and get back into simming. However, I'm considering P3D v3. I have never used it but its newer and allegedly better than FSX with its graphics etc. However, I have many addons for FSX and from what Im reading they may not work as they will require a new installer. Should I just stick with good ole FSX like you guys? Are there any benefits of FSX over P3D?

Is the Simconnect MSI in the Opus folder? I will have to check later when I'm home and I will also disable Accu-feel and report back. However, I'm using Opus with A2A planes but I have accu-feel separately too. It has crashed with Carenado aircrafts too so the planes are not the problem. I don't know why my FSX acts weird in windowed mode - minimizing itself when I attempt to use another program like OPUS etc. I have the latest FSUIPC and I recently repaired FSX and reinstalled the Service Packs. Deleting the FSX.cfg and rebuilding it fresh will solve the problem temporarily but it as I install new sceneries etc, the problem eventually reoccurs. I also have the latest 14.9 drivers for my ATI card and my windows 8.1 is up-to-date.

I don't use LCC as I want plane specific views and DHM options and I only would want to set them up one time and not every time I fly. Also, I keep FSX in windowed mode when setting up views and it crashes from there when interacting with Opus because obviously, I wouldn't be able to do it from full screen mode.

I already have that since that dll is a must with FSX but I will try that specific version. Is it recommended to let Opus download and inject the weather fully before I set up views?

I have a problem when setting up camera views with Opus. Sometimes when trying to set up a Camera view, FSX will crash, reporting ntdll errors. I just wish Opus had developed an in game interface to set up camera views so we don't have to minimize FSX and use their external interface because sometimes just minimizing and maximizing FSX makes it crash. When trying to set up the view most of the times FSX just doesn't stay put also - it minimizes itself when I start to interact with Opus.

Guys I genuinely do think it's a good step up from the trainers. With time, I'm sure they will model even faster GA's. Just ensure you all support them . But really looking forward to it... No other developer fully models what it is really like to own, operate and maintain your personal aircraft.

Benneton I agree with you the a2a planes are not easy to land but everyone agrees that they are on point to the real ones. I'm always bouncing in the Cessna and I'm trying to like the piper but it just feels like I'm heading backwards flying an old plane like that. Carenado planes have always been good but what makes the PC-12 the best?

Tried the A2a Cherokee and I don't know how you guys like it so much. It seems slower than the Cessna because at 8000 feet I could only get 108 knots (120mph) and booo to the ancient autopilot unit too.

Just got the Duke v2 last week and it they made an already good plane even better. Flies great and loving the motion effects. It seems our virtual hangars are happily full to capacity thanks to developers like Pmdg, Aerosoft, a2a, Carenado and Realair. What about Milviz though - their baron is good too.
