December 7, 201510 yr I've read the manual but need clarification. Do I enable CMD A before takeoff ? If not, I have to reach all the way across the panel to do so while in climb mode. And since CMD is required in order to enable LNAV, it would seem the 1st officer would enable it upon request as well as enabling the LNAV or HEADING select. This is in reference to SOP #2 Button Control. I think in the previous version there was a command for the first officer to enable the autopilot. Thanks.
December 7, 201510 yr Commercial Member The Pilot Flying (that's you) in FS2Crew would press the CMD A button since the MCP is the PF's area of responsibility. Watch the cockpit videos on You Tube and you'll see the PF basically always turns it on. When to turn it on? I think the min alt in most 737s is 400 feet (someone with the manual correct me if I'm wrong). But airlines will have their own rules... some say 1000 feet, some 1500 feet... everyone has their own rules. B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
