September 9, 200520 yr BEV will actually have a front-end which will allow you to choose the tree size; either the default BEV size (which is already smaller than FS9), or even smaller if you prefer. The front end will also allow you to select different sets of autogen (default, BEV sets 1, 2, or 3) or alter the height of the autogen buildings, because in some areas there are too many 4+ storey commercial buildings.
September 9, 200520 yr >Hahahaha, sorry ,I have to laugh. I noticed this the other>day actually when comparing some shots on the Misty Fjord>site. I thought, wow! MS's trees are on steroids. Never really>noticed it until then and now I see your post.>>How are those 40% smaller tress, worth while installing?Well, it's an easy install, just the five tree texture files. Bacj up the originals and try them in seconds. While the new height is better, you can see why MSFS chose to go with the size they did - trees look like sticks from a couple of thousand feet, and the coverage is much less. I suppose it's the pixel resolution. But they do give a better perspective at grund level and around airports, and aftermarket scenery usually has it's own (big) trees already plugged in, so it can't hurt.Just choose a familiar airport out in the boonies which has lots of trees and load the sim there before and after changing tree textures, you'll see the difference. One point that does need to be noted is that although Finntrees are smaller, their `footprint` in the sim remains the same - so even though you think you've cleared those trees by 20 feet, you end up crashing. Anyone know how that can be fixed, while we wait for BEV? Allcott
September 9, 200520 yr I have to agree the perspective, especially from elevation, is a little out of whack when it comes to FS9 trees. However, a "4 story" tree isn't unusual at all, taking into consideration that a "story" is roughly 10 feet. The elm tree in my front yard is over 40 feet in height (4 stories). The perspective in FS9 could be tweaked as well as increasing the numbers of trees in a typical forested area.Story/Storey: an informal unit of distance equal to the average distance between floors of a building.Typically a story equals 10 to 12 feet (3.0-3.6 meters).Ponderosa Pine trees average 100' to 160' in height, with some exceeding 180'. The trees range from 2-4' in diameter. White Pine: Height of mature trees in nature 80'-110'. Spread: 20'-40' Douglas Fir: In addition to being one of the most commercially valuable species, it is one of the largest trees in the world. It reaches impressive heights of 100 to 200 feet tall on average, with some growing to 300 feet and one to a record 415 feet. It is not unheard of to see trunks 17 feet in diameter and clear of branches for 100 feet, though average widths are three to four feet.

September 9, 200520 yr "Wow Dog, your tree savvy :)"He lives in ORYGUN, I would hope so, LOLI think part of this is due to even though 2 regions may share the vegetation/tile type, they don't share in tree amount or growth and if all you see is what is in your area, and base it off of that, size may vary.Since setting up the landclass in all aras is a big task, I'd like to see more lanclass options with varied density and types of trees available thru say ground2K4, even if not implemented, for 3rd party designers.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW

September 11, 200520 yr Trees are huge and FS9 default roads (and USA Roads) are also huge from FL300. Just compare them to MegaCity where the roads look a lot narrower. I don't mind because I like seeing neighborhood streets from that altitude.
