September 8, 200520 yr Commercial Member Gentlemen:First off, I appologize if this has been discussed in the past. Is it me or are the trees too big in FS2004? It just doesn't seem right. Your flying at any given altitude, you look down and the trees are larger than a 6 lane highway. It ruins the immersion factor IMO. Is there any way to make trees more realistic in terms of size? I wish someone could figure this out. Anyways, thoughts anyone?RegardsTim Tim FuchsManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
September 8, 200520 yr http://www.fsnordic.net/has Finntrees04.zip in their file library where the trees are 40% smaller. Worth tryingI agree that the trees seem odd, but I think it's because MS chose to replicate the volume, not the size - one tree in FS may not truly represent just a single tree, if you see what I mean.Allcott
September 8, 200520 yr Commercial Member Alcott, I will try that :)Thanks so much, and I see what you mean.RegardsTim Tim FuchsManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
September 8, 200520 yr They were way worse in FS2002, so I am happy with the current version. Another thing you can do is use the autogen annotator from the SDK and redo the trees on your texture and change the size.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
September 8, 200520 yr Commercial Member >Is it me or are the trees too big in FS2004? It just doesn't seem right. You are absolutely right. Seems to be a limitation in the rendering/perspective of the FS graphics engine. When I go put-putting around in the (real) Archer, even the largest of trees look tiny at 2500'. In the sim, even at flight levels the autogen trees look like sequoias. Fermin Fernandez FSWidgets Developer Melbourne, Australia (UTC+10)
September 8, 200520 yr Commercial Member Wow Michael, I didn't know you could do this :) Thanks for the infoRegardsTim Tim FuchsManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
September 8, 200520 yr The highly anticipated and upcoming BEV scenery which will redo the whole default scenery in FS9 will come with their own trees. They seem to be perfect in size.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
September 8, 200520 yr Did not know that. All the more reason to stump up for them - especially as the FSAddon people will be releasing a freeware cfg-changer utilityhttp://www.fsaddon.com/products/products.htmlso we may FINALLY do what MS should have done several versions ago - have a front-end menu that enables us to choose the scenery and textures for each sim session! Big trees or little trees, Fscene or BEV. Fab!Allcott

September 8, 200520 yr Hahahaha, sorry ,I have to laugh. I noticed this the other day actually when comparing some shots on the Misty Fjord site. I thought, wow! MS's trees are on steroids. Never really noticed it until then and now I see your post. How are those 40% smaller tress, worth while installing?
September 8, 200520 yr Mein Gott! Is there nothing this BEV addon will do - now new proper sized trees! I thought the large trees thing was just me being hyper picky.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
September 8, 200520 yr Actually I looked again at BEV trees in their autogen pics and someone real picky could point out they are still relatively high - most of their trees is like 3-4 story high. But I am not going to be bothered by it since whatever height they added may be considered a slight compensation for generally abnormally low number of trees - FS9 simply doesn't allow for enough trees to be displayed. So unless the problem of number of trees (say 'density') is solved (which in my opinion is one of the last remaining scenery's 'holy grail') I can live with slightly taller than average trees.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
September 9, 200520 yr Commercial Member Wow, I am happy its not just me noticing these gigantic trees in fs2004. I can't wait to try out this BEV :)Thanks Gents RegardsTim Tim FuchsManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
September 9, 200520 yr Interesting.. I have flown FS2004 for well over 2000 hours logged time, and never had a problem with the trees height until now...you guys made me notice it!Eric AND
