FS2004 Will not Open

Featured Replies

I've been wanting to install FS9 and just came across the "Century of Flight" tin with all CD's   ; )

The install went fine.  I rebooted.   I left CD 4 in the drive.

Went to run it, but nothing happens.  Installed the FS9.1 patch.  Tried running from the .exe, then tried setting compatibility to Win XP SP2 and SP3, run as admin.  Then loaded the old MS 9.0c Direct X library.  Nothing.  Then installed the 2010 Direct X libraries, rebooted, but same problem.

I ran across an old thread here and tried everything suggested.

Could it be that (Win 7 64-bit) FS9.1 isn't finding the My Documents folder?  Should I try creating one?

Not sure where to go from here, but sure would like to get FS going again.  A lot of fond memories.  Any ideas are appreciated.

Best Regards,

Mark

I had the same problem yesterday, and followed advice on earlier thread about this and removed the windows update - worked perfectly afterwards.

Thank you!  I am "in the sky".  I don't remember it running this smoothly 11 years ago?

Now, to check out aircraft and a scenery or two needed for Florida.

Best Regards,

Mark
