White *FMS message in upper center display

Featured Replies

Hello,

As the title says, I have  next to the right EGT display graphic a message which reads *FMS in white. I could not find an explanation in the handbook as it is difficult to search for that term. Anyone knows what it means?

Hi,

Your answer is on the FCOM v2 page 5.50.3.

It means that a "related FMC data link message has been received".

if you have automatic alternate uplink enabled, it will pop that up pretty regularly! you can clear it by clearing the message that is displayed in the fms itself.

The FMC actually told you at one point, but you probably hit CLR out of habit, or simply to clear the message out of the scratch pad.

As the others mentioned, it's usually related to a datalink message being received. The periodic updates are ALTN LIST updates, as Andy has referred to. To review all pending messages / actions, go to the FMC COMM page.
