Hi,

 

not sure if this is 'pilot error' or some bizarre bug, but quite often I go to power up then a few seconds later at least two of the engines power down, Iv tried setting the AC up in various orders but the aircraft still wont hold its throttle, but when it does work I do get the 'thrust set' vocal , is there anything im missing?

Have you asked this question before ?  I seem to remember advising  to check your joystick button/axes assignments. Sounds like you have something assigned to the fuel cuttoffs which you operate when you try and takeoff.

i did yes, and thought I solved it with the profile button. I checked my assignments, nothing set to any fuel settings or cut offs.  Also i watch the cut offs to see if they go when the engines power down but they stay open.

Do the engines actually shut down?

 

Have you checked failures ?

 

next step is to unplug your joystick/yoke and do a test flight using just keyboard. Use a long runway and extra flaps to make sure you get airborne. Do this a few times to see if it is the aircraft or your hardware which is causing this.

engines do shut down, and I get the 'your engines are off turn them on' notice, Nothing in failures, and is happens with the keyboard all the same.

Does it happen if you try to start the engines with your joysticks offline (CTRL+J)?

 

I can say that I had that problem with level-d's 767, after startup the engine would shutdown, and the reason was the engine mixture knob in my throttle quadrant was in the cut off position from a previous flight in a prop aircraft.

A few further thoughts:

 

Are you loading the MD-11 after loading the default flight or another aircraft?

 

Are the engines running when you load, or do you start them yourself?

 

Are you using a "load state" ?

 

How are you setting the fuel for the aircraft?

I start with the md11, and it starts with the engines running, Sometimes I set the fuel, sometimes not. not sure what you mean by load state/

You may be running out of fuel.  Make sure you have your fuel evenly distributed between each tank.

Shouldnt be as with default start it has at least 30% fuel, also the fuel is on auto transfer/pumps, and Im able to restart them and continue.

The two engines that are stopping are not getting any fuel.  Make sure the mixture is set to RICH on your default/startup aircraft.

Load state refers to a loaded panel state. Do you load a panel state after you load the aircraft?

 

I asked how are you setting the fuel ?  You must use either the PMDG load utility before starting the sim or the PMDG menu or the FMC. Using the FS9 fuel loader may lead to problems.
