September 26, 200520 yr Help please! All of a sudden FS9 won't start. The splashscreen loads for two seconds then everything disappears. No idea what caused this. I just tried installing Cloud9 EHAM but I restored the scenery.cfg to the way it was before and it still won't start. Please help.Misha
September 26, 200520 yr Help please. I have deleted the fs9.cfg to force a rebuild. No joy. I tried everything on the microsoft FS9 support page for this problem. Doesn't work. Please, I am at my wits end here.
September 26, 200520 yr The only thing I can think of is to reinstall DirectX9c. This often fixes the hung-at-the-splash-screen problem. I know your problem isn't exactly the same but reinstalling DirectX can't hurt anything and it might help.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. September 27, 200520 yr Had the same thing happen to me recently. In my case, I'd just updated video card drivers to a "leaked" set of betas. After I reinstalled the old drivers, the problem was gone. Hope your problem is as simple... Rick
September 27, 200520 yr I haven't updated my video drivers in a while. The only change to my system from earlier, when it ran normally was the installation of Cloud 9's EHAM. It irritates me whn install.exe files just change cfgs without telling you. I haven't had a chance to try any of the fixes above yet due to an insane work schedule. Hopefully tonight.
September 27, 200520 yr What AFCAD's do you have in the addon sceneryscenery folder? Temporarily take all of them out and put them in another folder and see if that works. Cloud 9 installs an afcad file in it's own scenery folder and it may have caused a conflict especially if you have another EHAM or NL AFCAD in the addon scenery folder.Where you running any other EHAM ot NL scenery prior to the Cloud9 install? I have just installed the scenery myself and was running NL2000 and despite a dectivation there were a lot of NL AFCAD's left in the directory.CheersTimhttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif
September 28, 200520 yr Tim, I tried that too. I deleted the old EHAM AFCAD I had for the default scenery, I reinstalled Direct X. I even reinstalled FS9 (backed up my aircraft, scenery, addon scenery, gauges, sounds, effects, modules and texture folders and overwrote). No joy. Still can't start FS. HELP!!!
September 28, 200520 yr It works again! Clean install, update, moved backup back, new scenery.cfg No idea what caused the problem originally....
September 28, 200520 yr I'm glad you managed to get it working again. FS is pretty fickle sometimes!CheersTimhttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif
September 29, 200520 yr Found the culprit. Cloud9 Amsterdam installation installs a dll file that is needed for their activation and for some advanced aspects of the scenery called bglman.dll. When it is present, FS9 won't start. I have posted about this in their forum Does anyone here know the solution to the problem?

I have the scenery myself but experienced what you see. I had noticed that when I run Active Sky (AS) for the weather and shut FS down and leave AS running then start FS again and try to load an Amsterdam situation the sim would lock up at about 75% when loading the situation. As soon as I closed down AS and then restart it, it's fine. took me a while to figure that one out! Cheershttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif
