Where to get Wings of Power?

Featured Replies

I want Shockwave's Wings of Power. It looks like the only place I can get it is Amazon. Surely there is another place? Anyone know where I can purchase this sweet looking add-on, share any info on it, etc? Thanks to all!-JeremyThe Ozark DogfighterHappy Flying!EDIT: Also, I feel I should add, I mean the complete, retail boxed version, not the B-17 or P-51 downloads.

Well I got it at Comp USA. It was the last one on the shelf and that was back in May. I have not seen one in any store here in the Philadephia area. Maybe check some computer software stores in your area.Good Luck

Their website is http://www.shockwaveproductions.comThey list only CompUSA and Amazon (in the USA) as retail outlets for the boxed version.Might be worth posting a note on their forum or e-mailing them. It's one worth hunting down...the models are really very good.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Just to update, though I'm sure most folks that read the forums already know this, but Shockwave has the Wings of Power Retail Box for sale in their store!!http://www.shockwaveproductions.com/store/wop_retail/WhooooHooooo!-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying!Pilot: November 123 on a very short final, understand I'm cleared to land ?Tower: Oh, who's talking ?Pilot: Me

UPDATEMy cousin just ordered it for me for Christmas! Awesome! Now, I can't wait to get it! I've been a B-17 fan as long as I can remember, and now I'm getting this....awesome. Anyone have it and would like to share some tips/advice, or just anything related to **?Tom Petty did say that the waiting is the hardest part..-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying!A pilot pulled out a .38 revolver and placed it on top of the instrument panel, then told the navigator "I use this on navigators who get me lost!"The navigator pulled out a .45 and placed it on his chart table. The pilot asked, "What's that for?""To be honest sir," the navigator replied, "I'll know we're lost before you will."

Hi Jeremy!Yes, I have **, and it's worth every cent! My favorites are the Lancaster Mk III which I have changed into a Mk I (the original ** Lanc Mk III is an odd hybrid between the marks I, III and X, which ShockWave is the first to admit and regret), and the Boeing B-29.Because of my extensive set of GoFlight units and the great help of (since recently) Flight Assistant, I always fly from the 2D panel. I have changed and adapted especially the Lanc panel to my own preferences and needs, mainly consisting of pottering about with it until you've got a more or less true "skipper's view" on the screen. The B-29 has been given a totally different 2D panel, namely the one belonging to the SuperFortress Mania add-on. This too needed some extensive changes, the most important being the cutting away of MUCH of the four sides, and enlarging the remaining centre section to the original proportions. Mind: none of these changes are necessary to enjoy the ** package, they simply reflect my own preferences, hardware options, ideas, and neuroses (grin)! With the exception of the Lancaster (which Shockwave candidly admits is the relatively flawed result of a design nightmare on account of less than perfect cooperation within the team), the ** aircraft are a joy to fly straight from the box, and (within the inevitable limits of FS9) Shockwave have left no stone unturned to make the experience as realistic and immersive as possible. As for the Lancaster, of which I can with only a minimal amount of exaggeration say that I've forgotten more about than most other people will have the chance to learn (bashful grin!), with the right choice of changes in aircraft cfg and panel cfg, you'll easily turn her into a very good resemblance of the Mk I with Merlin 24 engines. Basically the ** Lanc has all that's needed, it only needs a bit of sorting out. What you'll finish up with is a TRUE Lancaster, which was just about the most boring and characterless bomber that ever existed, and lo and behold: the more characterless and boring a bomber is, the more beloved she'll be by her pilots and crew! Anyway: ** is a GREAT package, and you won't be disappointed.Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

I've seen it at Comp USA in Portland. Probably worth calling around.

Thanks, Jaap! I doubt I'll be dissapointed. I've already downloaded several repaints and eagerly await the delivery!-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying!A pilot pulled out a .38 revolver and placed it on top of the instrument panel, then told the navigator "I use this on navigators who get me lost!"The navigator pulled out a .45 and placed it on his chart table. I found a used copy at a local EB Games in Portland a few months ago. Good bargain, too. It never hurts to check with outlets like that; they'll sometimes take 'em in trade, even if they didn't sell them new.

I actually tried that route about a month ago, turns out it's illegal in Missouri to sell used software? I didn't do any checking on that, but two retailers told me the same thing so I figgered 'twas gospel.-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying!A pilot pulled out a .38 revolver and placed it on top of the instrument panel, then told the navigator "I use this on navigators who get me lost!"The navigator pulled out a .45 and placed it on his chart table. You'll have to change your "Handle" to "Ozark TARGET":-halo 2. Save up to buy paper and Ink for the 184 page manualif you're downloading.:-eek 3. Remember always " Fighter pilots make movies, Bomber pilotsmake HISTORY.":-bat 4. If you come in 25kts hot and 100ft high with the '29 you'llovershoot a 7000ft rwy at sea lvl.:-8 5. When flying the '29 the flaps and gear actually speed up theaircraft...or so it seems.:-violin 6. In descent the '29 appears to behave like a 200,000lb "switzer"...with power...Radials you know.:-8 7. Keep in mind that the "Wright Cyclone" killed more AmericanAirmen than the Japanese ever thought about.:-fume 8. That unexplained thingie that hangs down from the tailof the B29 when the gear is lowered is a tail skid. From personalexperience it is purty sturdy, if you exagerate the flair don'tworry too much. The grinding sound and sparks are kind of neat fromchase plane view...as are the bulging eyeballs:-eek of the tailgunner. Don't worry ...he's only an enlisted man.:-roll As to the B-17; Think about this. Nearly one third of U.S. wardeaths were Airmen. Most of them over Europe. I believe there was a B-17 Wing Commander, Brig Gen ..in his20's due to the awful attrition. Sorry for the downer but it it isVETERAN'S Day here in the USA. I got ** for Christmas last year from my kids. I LOVE it andam sure you will also. It is my ONLY payware. I have the AAF B-29 Pilot Training Manual, Flight Manual andthe Wright Engine Manual. So if anyone needs any info just ask. Greetings from Denver:-wave Denny

Do you not have Game stores in Oz?

We do have a Large Department Store Entity, only a days ride from my front porch, and if you're lucky on the trip you'll see ol' Sam's ghost trying to mark-down prices on the Spooklight :-lolI only checked what I knew was around, Gamestop and EB, plus some local "souls-for-sale" shops and I turned up nuthin. It's ordered now though, Di-Rect from Shockwave's store, and the manual, Denny, is printed :).I'd read about scaring the gunners with that skid on the 29, should be alot of fun. And I'm hoping to rustle-up an authentic B-17 manual from the Big One era to study up on.-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying!A pilot pulled out a .38 revolver and placed it on top of the instrument panel, then told the navigator "I use this on navigators who get me lost!"The navigator pulled out a .45 and placed it on his chart table.
