S550 owner wondering if there is a reason to get the CJ2

Recommended Posts

Ha ha, gotta love those Marriots.

The Duncan Aviation series may be just the ticket for simmers to gain a much better understanding of the entire subject AND the challenges of sim implimentation.

In the FFS we use a GNSS simulator that includes SBAS simulation. Now realize we are governed by the FAA and the expectation that the sim behaves as close the the real thing as possible. But, the instructor has to remain in charge of the training profile so the simulation will not inject an integrity message, that has to be initiated by the IOS...

I am fairly sure if a vendor for FS did something like I described above they would be very proud of it and boast that they use the same technology as the multi-million dollar sims.

Good... now using the Navigraph database... tell me which approach is LNAV/VNAV, which one has LNAV? Is the approach governed by WAAS, EGNOS or MSAS? Show me where all of that information is located in the Navigraph database.

Also... show me where you can legally use the Navigraph database for commercial training.

I have this really nifty software, written a while back... it calculates the current position of GPS satellites. This is what RAIM is... knowing what satellites you are currently receiving and forecasting the probability of what satellites you will be receiving at a given future time. Doing it in a sim is overkill to the n'th degree... and as far as I know... no one does it, after all.. it is rocket science. LOL

So, I will concede that some things can be done without any detailed information. However, correctly representing the SBAS system globally requires far more information than what Navigraph has... and Navigraph isn't legal for commercial let alone training.

I'm sorry but I had to remove most of the posts in the final page of this discussion as the discussions clearly have gone South.  The OP wanted to know if there is a reason to get the CJ2 if he owns the S550.  I think that has been mostly resolved so I will now close this topic.

Best regards,
