Good 707 freeware combo for Fs2004

Featured Replies

For all the folks jumping in and on CS 707, nothing like starting another thread, eh...?The HJG Boeing 707 series is very good indeed. The visual and flight models are excellent. I tweaked some parameters but basically, the cfg file is already really nifty. You can takeoff, fly, and land at flaps 30 or flaps 50 on published Boeing 707 numbers.I use the 707 panel by Chris Alevritis (ca707pnl.zip) and it works well; it's basic and unsophisticated, but full of atmosphere with "steam gauges" and has good basic functionality. It works well with all of my GoFlight hardware as it uses the default MS autopilot. I use the Dan Careri 737 sounds that he designed for FS2000 (!), that were modified and are available on flightsim.com (cf707snd.zip). They are very good--outstanding actually, and sound like 1965 all over again. Considering this whole combo is free, it rocks mightily and I give it an "A" for fun and excitement.I did use the Paul Golding 707 panel in FS2000 and I think FS2002. It was unquestionably the best-ever 707 freeware panel by miles, but I wasn't sure it'd work in FS9, so I never installed it.Hope this helps somebody.JS

Thanks Jack for the info. I remember way back when (FS98-2000), there was a panel for the 707 using the real old-style gauges, made by Paul G. (if my memory serves me right) . I wish Paul would re-visit this configuration for FS9....:) well can't blame a man for dreaming.. ;)regards,Macs

I also the Chris Alevritis 707 panel in my HJG707s, absolutely the best, bar none, in the freeware field that I've ever tried. I haven't tried Paul Golding's panel. Dan Careri's sounds also reside on my computer. Very realistic. Just yesterday afternoon I flew a Western 707-320C on a short hop from LAX to DFW and was once again immersed. That is until I hit an FPS wall at 8 miles out from 35C, a wall that ATC never reported :-lolBut I agree, completely. I can't get enough of the HJG jets. Currently I only have paints for between 1968 and 1977, but I'm expanding soon.-JeremyThe Ozark DogfighterHappy Flying!

Hey, Paul:That is excellent news! I shall try the panel. I don't know where I got the idea or heard the "news" that it doesn't function in FS9, but what the heck: youdaMan!Thanks for posting.JS

I just re-downloaded from the AVSIM library: pg7072k2.zipto instal into FS2004.Is that still the correct panel and are no modifications required? Thanks!JS

JS,The mod 707 I flew (707-351) had flap settings of 14*, 25*, 40* and 50 flap and later on "Hush kits" were fitted to reduce noise levels at most if not all major US airports and 25 flap became the new configuration for landing (40 or 50 flap were used into airports in unusual circumstances or Emergency

Ooooh! That's pretty! I want one! I'll get one! Thanks Paul, and everybody else. Gotta try it Gotta try it Gotta try it!!:D:D-JeremyThe Ozark DogfighterHappy Flying!

Maybe I am confusing the 707 flap settings with the DC-10-30....! Anyway, I just reinstalled the Paul Golding 707 panel and it rocks as much as ever. It is crystal clear and beautiful. Now I have this gem and the Chris Alevritis one too.Wow, I am a happy camper!JS

Hi Paul,About that awesome 707 Panel...I have been using it for awhile with the HJG jets and can't thank you enough for putting it out. I love those old jets and your panel is the most realistic looking one that I have come across.I do have one problem with it that I'm hoping you can help me with. On my installation everything works except the switches for the exterior lights do not function, i.e they move and click but do not operate the exterior lights. I did not use your 2002 air file and aircraft.cfg file as I assumed they would not fly correctly in FS9 with the new 2004 version HJG jets. I did make the appropriate changes to the HJG aircraft.cfg to get the 2004 GPS, radios, and autopilot to work. The "lights section" did not have any reference to landing lights so I did not change those. Do I need to use your air file to make the light switches work? Thanks again for all your contributions.

I've not used that panel in years so can't really answer. The light switches were used over and again in many panels so most certainly created to SDK standards and unlikely to be a problem now.It might be worth trying those replacement files that come with the panel (backup the original HJG ones first). The cfg file was setup to HJG gear height etc and as gear height is gear height, I can't see why they would change it in newer models.http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...BANNER_PAUL.jpg

Cheers

Yeah, it's a great panel Paul! I have Paul's on my 320Cs and Chris' on my 120Cs.-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark DogfighterHappy Flying!Pilot-The friction locks are causing the throttle levers to stick.Mechanic- Umm, that's what they're there for...
