Is ASNext The Only Current Weather Provider?

Recommended Posts

I had to Reset Windows 10. I reinstalled P3Dv3.2. Have it running well. So I installed ASNext and now greeted with the Sim Connect and Ambient errors I had when I first began using the product. I tried following the changes recommended but nothing worked. I really want to use the product and not have to be bothered with fiddling around with technical adjustments just to get the product to load.

So, my question is - is ASNext the only weather program? I have heard of Opus and of course REX. However, I get the sense that ASNext is superior to them. Right now ASNext would have to be materially better to induce me to re-enter the messy steps to get it running.

Engine wise ASN is superior to the others.

REX is also very good and keeps evolving.

Opus is superior at creating how low level clouds look ( compared with what you see when you look out of the window ) and is also constantly evolving.

This is my opinion on the three above ( have them all ).

With other weather generators I have no experience...

So you reset W10 and this messed up your ASN install. And somehow it's ASN's fault? FWIW, there are far more ASN users who have NOT had a problem than those with issues. In almost all cases it simply comes down to a configuration error on the specific system.

Although they try, developers cannot account for EVERY system configuration. I understand your frustration but if you have a Simconnect issue - get that squared away and your ambient issue should follow. It's basically saying that it(ASN) cannot maintain a constant connection with your simulator and that could be for many reasons, none of them belong to ASN.

If you haven't, contact HiFi tech support and they can sort it out quickly. It's usually something simple that got overlooked in setup.

Good luck,

Vic

Always install FSX simconnect versions with P3D if you have not had FSX on the system and intend to use FSX addons.
