Night Lights

Featured Replies

After 23 hours i found a positive aspect in DTGFS.

Night Lights.

But only if not too close, then they are overdone. But far away from above it looks quite nice. And it does not look everywhere good as here.

In the video you can see EDDF at night, with the major roads (Autobahn) bright enlighted. Just the LOD could be bigger, you see the lights popping in and out in the not so far distance. The Airport itselt isn`t too bad also, actual database, with new runway and hangars.

They have potential. They are rather large, right now. Dovetail should take a look at X-plane.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Nice video. I think it's about as good as can be done with crummy FSX autogen lights. As Devon says, the sim is in desperate need of a new rendering engine for lighting. They apparently now have PBR (Physics Based Rendering), but that needs to be applied to the scenery and not just aircraft.

The aircraft could look better at night too. It's weird the way the plane's exterior is lit up as if there is an external light source, or maybe it's just self-illuminating textures. It could be an intentional effect in Flight School so newcomers can still see the plane clearly at night, but it still looks strange.

In the later sim, we should expect the plane to be essentially a dark outline except for whatever the strobe and nav lights are illuminating, plus cabin lighting in the windows. For tubeliners you need that sexy floodlight on the tail logo, which only looks right when the rest of the plane is dark.
