ANY driver or just specific ones?

First dump shows hal.dll which is the hardware abstract layer. The portcls.sys handles your miniport drivers.

Add any new hardware? Possibility of a corrupt driver.

Try doing a boot log - perhaps the log will show you exactly where it stopped.

I might be making way with this.

so for weeks my computer has been making the usb disconnect/reconnect sound every so often... I put it down to windows being silly as im not unplugging anything. I have 9 usb ports on my pc 3 on the front 6 on the back,

Fast forward on a few weeks and Mrs tebbsie decided to get the carpets cleaned.  So pc gets moved and carpet gets cleaned and pc put back again.  I plug everything back placed the cables  and put my wireless adapter into the socket that the pro pedals where in there before.... Every so often the internet would go down, so calls to Virgin media etc etc

Fast forward again I start getting pc crashes.... so i take out the wireless adapter into a another socket, no probs.  Just to check I put my mouse into the socket.  The mouse cuts out and lags a but...  Long story cut short, im 99 percent sure its the socket as whatever you put in it sets the pc off, if you put the mouse in it it stops working intermittently

Alas the moral of the story is dont let your missus near your front ports with a duster when your not looking !!!!

Im hoping this is the end of my woes with my pc... surely it cant be that thats been causing my p3d ctds... a dodgy usb port and my pedals !!!!

These are computers Pete - anything is possible, the more convoluted the better.  Sounds about right though, the errors relate to ports & hardware.

Fingers crossed.
