June 21, 20169 yr Hi, It has been a long time since I had major Fatal Error issues. (Sometimes I will get them on long flights overseas) but now I get them just a few minutes after loading FSX. It all started when FS Dream Team came up with an update download for GSX for June 2016, which I did, and it caused GSX vehicles to disappear, or cause UT2 to disappear in flight . I sent posts to FSDT about the problem and they say it could be a Simconnect issue because of the 3rd party add ons. I have UT2, ASN, FSDT airports, and FSpassangers. I never had these issues before with GSX updates, but until the June 2016 update. But as of today, I get constant fatal errors minutes after loading an airport. I tested it several times. I would open up, for example, KSFO or KJFK, and use a default ultra light aircraft. I would fly for a few minutes and then a fatal error would show up. At first I thought ASN was causing it, but even when I did not use ASN, I still get fatal errors. I use Windows 7. I downloaded all of FSDT's GSX current downloads, including the "Stand Alone", to no avail. Attached is the APPcrash report. I could not get the Event Properties to copy. The "Copy to copy to clipboard" which I can't locate in windows 7, so I could not "copy" the event properties anywhere. I also have "System Mechanic" that I use to keep my computer system cleaned up and current, plus I empty my temp files on a regular basis. My computer system:HP 700-215xtIntel ® Core i7-4771 CPU3.50 June 21, 20169 yr I have gotten a lot of StackHashes too Cray. Same memory address as yours (it's a common crash and memory address). Most of them go away whenever you restart FSX. In my case, I have high autogen settings that I was trying out for my Orbx/FTX Southern California. You do know there is no solution for a StackHash right? They come and they go. In the AVSIM CTD Guide, I found several "solutions" provided by others around the Internet but it's a hit or miss thingy. My StackHash occurs with P3Dv3.5 (which means nothing). I would suspect it's high settings which FSX and P3D just cannot handle all of the time. Couple that with high system settings like those for your video card or any overclock and that could spell problems for FSX/P3D "occasionally". I just installed the Orbx/FTX Southern California scenery so maybe that's the issue. I had two yesterday and one today so far (just n-stalled Orbx/FTX Southern Calif today though after uninstalling it yesterday). More information in the AVSIM CTD Guide. I downloaded and ran the dotnet repair tool - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135. It found dotnet 4.6 was screwed up so it did a repair. I think I saw in the FTX/Orbx installer I needed dotnet 4.5 or higher on my computer and I did but maybe the 4.6 will make a difference. Dotnet's are used by developers to make sure your application runs properly as they intended, including memory management. Things go wrong occasionally on computers and things get corrupted or out of whack. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! June 21, 20169 yr Author Jim,I never heard of "StackHash" before. I shut down my computer 7 times after each fatal error, but it kept coming back. I keep my FSX settings to a minimum because I had issues years ago and keep low settings that helped. For example, I keep my air traffic at 35% and weather to a low setting, etc. All this mess started with the GSX June update, which I deeply regret uploading. I am not that great with computers, so as far as my Microsoft visual settings you mentioned, I would not have a clue what to do to update that. That repair tool link you provided, it will not change my Windows 7 into Windows 10? Cray Cray Foley
June 21, 20169 yr That repair tool link you provided, it will not change my Windows 7 into Windows 10? I have Windows 7 installed too and it did not change my install to Windows 10. That's just an ad for Windows 10 as they want you to upgrade before the elections or something. After I posted I went back and ran P3D again and got the StackHash at the same location Bob Hope International (so my dotnet repair did not fix things). That was with high autogen settings at extremely dense. I lowered them to dense and I can no longer replicate. So, it is something that is taking up a massive amount of your resources and it could be Autogen or some other setting doing it for you. Again, there is no known fix. You just have to do some trial and errors until you find "your fix". Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! June 21, 20169 yr Author Jim,My autogen is set at normal. I noticed also if I switch screens, such as going into google, the fatal error instantly hits. I pulled up FSX with this site open and when I clicked over to this site, the fatal error occurred. It never us to do that as well. The fatal error still takes place even if I don't have another site open, it just does not hit instantly. I am convinced GSX latest download had something to do with this problem. Everything was running fine until then. Cray Foley
June 21, 20169 yr any possibility this could be connected to the uiautomationcore.dll? If so, there is a solution here on Avsim http://www.avsim.com/topic/273341-heres-the-apparent-fix-to-fsx-crashing-win-7-x64/ btw, if you do make the change, back up the original....but you knew that, didn't you...:-) Sherm
June 21, 20169 yr He has the uiautomationcore.dll in his fsx folder already. I don't see the version but there are two that works (for some). I personally do not recommend it in the main fsx folder. The uiautomationcore.dll is part of the Microsoft.net package and is installed in the system files. Some strange individual recommended several years ago that this was the holy grail of CTD's and Cray, the OP, can tell you it is not the holy grail as he just got the StackHash. I have proof beyond all reasonable doubts it does not work as everyone who has posted the AppCrashView here shows the uiautomationcore.dll in the main fsx folder yet they are reporting a crash. Removing the dll has eliminated crashes for many. I wish there was a solution that was the holy grail of fixing all crashes but it is not that simple. I am convinced GSX latest download had something to do with this problem. Everything was running fine until then. That is the probable cause. If things were working great before that, then that is most likely the cause. The best solution for that then is to download and reinstall the latest Standalone Addon Manager. June 21, 20169 yr Author Jim,I have attempted the Stand Alone several times, but it has not helped. I updated GSX last week and that is when the missing vehicles and UT2 disappearing started, but I did not get fatal errors during that time. Matter of fact, On Saturday I was able to fly from KMSP to LIRF without any fatal errors, but UT2 disappeared when I arrived over France and the link from the menu bar for UT2 was missing as well. The UT2 link came back when I restarted FSX after the flight to see if I had to download UT2 or not. The fatal errors started today for some reason.Cray Cray Foley
June 21, 20169 yr Hope you can get it figured out Cray. I just had another StackHash. It happened after installing Orbx/FTX Northern California. It is the most evil crash in the world of evil crashes. I may have to reformat my computer and reinstall Windows 7 and FSX and P3D and all of my add-ons like I had to a year or two ago. I will continue to try to figure out what happened. My only clue is the fact I just installed Southern and Northern California. I suspect if I delete those programs, I'll be cool. June 22, 20169 yr Author Jim,Thanks for the help you have given me. I hope you get your FSX issues fixed too. It is funny, in June 2013 and 2014, I seemed to be plagued with FSX fatal error issues, and now again in June 2016. The one in June 2013 was so bad that I gave up after a month of trouble shooting and I quit flight simming altogether in frustration until I decided to try it again around September that same year and expecting a fatal error to show up when I booted up FSX, but it didn't and as though "time" seemed to fix the problem without me doing anything to FSX.One thing I learned, I will not download any add-on "updates" until I see from forum posts later on what the outcome of those updates. There has been a couple GSX posts for the same issue I have, but only a few, so I am not alone. The "fix's" for those issues are basically the same ones that I have already done. If I had done this with GSX and saw the outcome, I would not have downloaded the update.Another strange issue is that FSDT has something called SODE 1.3.3. In my add on menu it states I have SODE 1.3.1. FSDT is telling me that 1.3.1. is not from them and I should have 1.3.3, the most current version and that should have installed in my FSX Add on menu with the latest installer. I did install from the latest full installer, but I still have 1.3.1 in my add on menu. I also had my anti virus turned off during the download. This seems to get more and more frustrating each day.Cray Cray Foley
June 22, 20169 yr Another strange issue is that FSDT has something called SODE 1.3.3. In my add on menu it states I have SODE 1.3.1. FSDT is telling me that 1.3.1. is not from them and I should have 1.3.3, Check C:\Program Files (x86)\12bPilot\Sode\simobjectanimationmodule.dll. Right click on this module and select Properties. It should read under the Details tab 1.3.3. Look in the Add/Remove programs for SimObject Display Engine. It should show you version 1.3.3.0. If not, simply uninstall it. Issue fixed. Once uninstalled, make sure UAC is disabled and any anti-virus program. Download GSX again and reinstall. The file folder for the Sode module is in the Program Files (x86) folder where Windows Security is ultra high so you must have UAC disabled when you install it and when you update it and when you use it. Also, look in the Quarantine section of your anti-virus program. It might have done a false-positive where your anti-virus program thinks the module is a virus. It then quarantines it and you will never be able to use the module until you tell your anti-virus program it's okay. The same goes with any malware program like Microsoft Essentials. It sometimes places many FSX modules into quarantine too. Check and tell your malware and anti-virus programs who's boss. It's your computer, not theirs. Something as simple as that could be the cause of your StackHash. Some program might be trying to call Sode during your flight sim session and it cannot find the module being called or it's the wrong module (the one with the bug in it and the reason why the developer upgraded it to 1.3.3.0). June 22, 20169 yr Author Jim, Thanks, I will give it a try this weekend. Also, I was in the GSX forum today and they are getting more complaints of fatal errors and Stackhash issues with the GSX June updates. I am glad it's just not my computer. All the same problems I am having. Hopefully they will get the issue resolved. Cray Foley
June 23, 20169 yr I think GSX is causing my StackHash crashes too. Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! June 24, 20169 yr Jim, How can you tell if it is a "StackHash" crash? I never hard that term before unit this fatal error problem this month. I don't see that word when I check the list when my FSX crashes. Cray Your crash report shows a StackHash - Sig[3].Name=Fault Module Name Sig[3].Value=StackHash_0a9e The StackHash had the same memory address as mine (0a9e). I fixed mine by renaming or moving my dll.xml and exe.xml over to a temp folder then restarting the sim. My crashes stopped so I knew it was a problem with one of the modules. As I discussed in the AVSIM CTD Guide, a StackHash can occur with duplicate entries in the dll.xml or the module is missing or corrupted or it simply does not work properly (as in the Carenado CMetro.dll for P3D). In my case, I was somehow missing the ASN entry they put in the dll.xml. It was there in the exe.xml but not in the dll.xml. You can check out about this in the AVSIM CTD Guide on page 13, Move/Disable modules in dll.xml, and page 36 in the Guide about StackHash. Page 10 also discusses it in the Topic "How to Fix Most Freezes/Crashes - Return to the default configuration". Many others have fixed their StackHash problem here too following this guide. Hope this helps. Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
