Blackbox Simulation Question

Recommended Posts

Sort of. Getting there. No way. Spend some time searching the Avsim FSX forums, you'll get a flavor

Black box is hardly new to flight sim development. They've been around since FS2002, operating under the name PSS, Back in FS2004 height, this developer was widely regarded as one of, if not the best, developers around; their 777/Dash-8 are legendary. However, they disappeared overnight leaving several of their customers high and dry (unable to activate their products). You can read more about that situation if you are so inclined. Suffice it to say, when they resurfaced a few years ago, they had to alter the name due to all the bad publicity.

Concerning their recent efforts; they have yet to produce a completed product, despite reappearing over 4 years ago. Also, they really haven't improved their products, from a visual perspective. To that point, they are not on the same level as Aerosoft; it's really not even close. So, if it's an A320 you're after, get the Aerosoft rendition or wait for FSLabs. If it's an A340 you're after, you can take the chance that BB will finish their 340 or buy the somewhat dated Wilco version.

Concerning the BB A320, I wonder how much appetite there is to complete this project; after all, you already have a visually superior Awesoft version and a superior systems version hitting the market soon.

Black Box Simulation is the only developer who is permanently banned here at Avsim, and has had news release privileges suspended for a similar period.

While a sad story there have been a number of emails exchanged over the years between BBS and Avsim's management with the above result.

They continue to release unfinished products. Never finishing one while starting another. Their latest update has been promised since last fall. If you decide to purchase their products keep in mind you are a paying for a unfinished product. Some of their supporters might jump in saying how great it is but to this day I don't understand buying a unfinished product. it makes the developer lazy. No rush to finish if you already have their money. Last developer I saw do this was Air Simmers. At the beginning they had the slogan "no compromise". They took that down and had people pay to be beta testers. My advice is Aerosoft has a great Airbus family out. They have a A330 coming at the beginning of next year. FS Labs has their Airbus 320 in Beta and is being compared to PMDG quality and depth.
